3D printed planter set with the Voronoi pattern.
For the final project of my 3D printing class, I decided to design a set of planters with the Voronoi pattern. When experimenting with Meshmixer for the first time, I want to explore the ways of applying the Voronoi pattern to different parts of the product. The model was designed with Rhino and Meshmixer.

ADDY WAGENKNECHT
American artist and researcher Addy Wagenknecht lives in New York City and Austria. Her work deals primarily with pop culture, feminist theory, new media and open source software and hardware.
From the artist’s site:
The Liberator vases are a series of vases composed of 3D prints of the open source Liberator gun [from Texas’ Defense Distributed, maker of ] the first 3D modeled, open source handgun made available for download online, utilizing torrent sites.
The Liberator gun is multiplied and parametrically modeled to form a recognizable classic vase. The guns are thus deformed, clustered and turned useless, in a way that points to the subversive power of appropriation and creativity but also attempts to morph the gun into an artifact of the network itself. Made in collaboration with Martin Zangerl and Stefan Hechenberger in commission from MU Eindhoven, NL and HeK Basel, CH.
Visit the 3D printing lab in the Industrial Design building at Academy of Art University. Max did a really good job of explaining how the Formlabs machine works.
Printing in the process with Ultimaker 3+. First time making Voronoi patterns in MeshMixer. Hopefully, it will get printed successfully. I will update when the print is done.

Today: printing in aluminium
Joris Laarman creates stunning 3D-printed chair from aluminium
Designed using generative tools, this chair was then laser-sintered in aluminium; made in several parts to allow for density and form in the patterns to be custom-engineered for different requirements across the piece. Where the fractal patterns become more dense in places, the chair is stronger and more rigid. Where they begin to become more sparse, the piece plays with light and texture. All this achieved through one single printing technique.
The resulting product is absolutely gorgeous!
