Monkees Awards, Day 27: Favorite Song Written By A Monkee
I actually was going to pick Sweet Young Thing, but since that was technically a cowrite, I decided to go with Papa Genes Blues. Even though it’s that classic new weirdness of not using the title in the song’s lyrics, it’s still an incredible song. With it’s slight country flavor, it’s one of the earliest examples of alt country/Americana out there. Just more proof of Nez’s genius.
