I'm opposed to anything that gives glib extravert leadership types yet another advantage over the rest of us. Another year at the bottom of some crappy all-consuming status hierarchy is another year of hell. Futhermore, what happens when the entryist Culture Warriors take over, as they inevitably will (probably from day one, as they have the organization)? Now if I find myself in a place where SJWs are telling me "You push, we'll steer" I can say "Naa, I think I'll just quit this org and play some single-player retrogames instead." With an essentially-required national service organization, that's no longer the case.

Gotta love the spin on that article Governor: "I'm going to send armed officers to haul those Republicans in by force!" Republican: "Molon Labe" Oregon Live: (wringing hands and clutching pearls) "Oh my god, the Republicans are threatening the state police." (No objection to the idea of sending in the troopers in the first place)

There's nothing in the center but a bunch of dead armadillos and a yellow stripe. Moving towards the center means you lose your organizers and turnout for your core groups, while gaining at most a bunch of mostly-uncommitted voters who are likely to not show up at all or to switch back the next time the other party makes a play for them.
