Isn't An Octoroo looks like some racist ass shit
The Octoroon, the 19th century antebellum melodrama by an Irish dude, is (I understand) pretty racist. An Octoroon, the 21st century adaptation by a black dude (Obie winner Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins), is, as far as I have heard, an excellent and thought-provoking piece on racism and slavery.
I haven’t seen it myself (I’m going in a couple weeks) so I can’t speak firsthand.
being around uber emotional people for the past two days has made me uber emotional and I'm sitting here, reading The Octoroon and I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR EMOTIONS, okay.
Not prepared.
