the opulent
slytherin - pureblood - seventh year - booboo stewart - open
the epic
in some tales of children of families of luxury, of privilege, of affluence, the primary antagonist is written to be the child themselves - this is no different in your story. born as the youngest child of a pure-blooded family of seven, you are thrown into social politics at a terribly early age - from being presented as a prize until the age of three, to being forced to appear charming and regal until the age you are now, you become your family’s prized possession, to a sense, and for quite a while, you adore the opulence. this pool of extravagance and lavishness consumes you entirely consensually; out of all of your siblings, you are the one that enjoys the parties, the dinners, the balls the most - with a personality that accommodates the requirements of an admired socialite, and an extraversion that covers an entire ballroom, you do not fail to illuminate any social affair. this comes in very handy for your oldest sister, the heir to the empire your parents have cherished and protected, who not only does not particularly enjoy being the centre of attention, but despises the fraudulent nature of the pure-blood society. she does not consider the implications of extravagant luxury over your personality, not until you become pompous enough to start judging others on their status of wealth - this is merely a year before you start hogwarts, and your sister is quick to take action. having been involved with charity work ever since she graduated from hogwarts herself, she does not have any trouble involving you into the work she has put herself into, either - at first, you, aged ten, are quick to judge and complain; but when you discover the stories of the people you are helping, you start to look at your privileges from a different light.
you leave to hogwarts, changed - while you do not lose yourself into the simplest pleasures that luxury and prosperity bring, you force yourself to be more accepting, kinder towards others. you are sorted, not unexpectedly, into slytherin, like a good portion of your family before you - it is your ambition, your resourcefulness that places you with your house-mates. in time, you are seen to be still partying with all your might - the gryffindors and the hufflepuffs have their own parties, but it is more difficult to outmanoeuvre the simple lavishness of your own. you are known to throw the most elite of parties, for one reason or another; while they do involve the occasional dancing to ridiculous music, they are mostly grander, deeper than just simply grinding against a couple of bodies to some mediocre beat. apart from the partying, you have found yourself to be involved with charity work, as your sister has not as much time for it as she used to - your future plans include giving to people in need as much as you can, and perhaps founding your own company to organise bigger, complex projects.
your extraverted composure has not let itself down even the slightest - while you used to be more malicious as a child, you are now charismatic, drawn to people as much as they are drawn to you. this does not mean that you cannot hold a conversation on your own, no - you have been known to give excellent advice to friends and strangers all alike. you do, however, hold grudges - gossip is coded in your nature, you cannot simply ignore the desire to sit with a friend and chat about the outrageous happenings at hogwarts. you are, to simply put, likeable; a personality that expands the more you get to speak to people, in the way you seem to be interested in absolutely anyone, with anything to say - and yet there are times where you turn back into your old, cunning, judgemental days, times that you simply cannot prevent. while you do appear to be as amiable as you can towards others, this toxic part has more than occasionally appeared in the company of those closest to you. and you cannot admit this to himself, that you are the stereotypical rich kid underneath - it is your conscious that is trying to evolve you into a new person, a person that gives more than they take, a person who is not defined by the way their parents want them to be, but someone who is defining themselves, day by day, choice by choice.
the network
the alexithymic: they are family, first and foremost. from waltz lessons at four, five, six, to hogwarts breakfasts at seventeen, you have never met someone you have trusted and appreciated as much as them. they have an inner working that only you can barely understand; you have an outer working that might seem easy to comprehend by everyone, but is only decoded by them. yours is a friendship that you cannot ever imagine giving up on, despite all hardships along the way.
the raconteur: they become a first for you, in more ways than you can count - first, they are the sun, the night sky pouring constellations over you, then they are the moon, brightening a path you never thought existed - then, the deconstruction of attachment separates you into an awkward mess of mutual acknowledgement, a delicate friendship that you force yourself to stay away from, mostly to keep sane. they, with their sun-smiles, mean mostly danger to your delicate composure.
the effervescent: they are your partner in everything; from potions to gossip, they bring something to your life that no one else truly can - with their strong, adamantine perspective, you relearn to look at life from a different point of view yet again from them. they give you a solid ground that you can depend on; a friendship that you can always count on, no matter the circumstances - even though you come from different circles, you know that at the end of the day, you can trust them with yourself.
