PILGRIMAGE - WHITEHALL GAMES - 1984 - I was such a hungry young medievalist, I bought this game at a garage sale just because it had the word “medieval” in the title. I don’t remember too many specifics about this game except that I loved it. I remember dragging it around with me, to friend’s houses, something I had never done with a board game. If I remember correctly, the main mechanic was pretty simple, moving around a map from England to the Middle East & picking up event cards. It was essentially a race, but it did a great job of bringing me into what it might have felt like to drop any semblance of ordinary life & travel many, many miles on a pilgrimage.
