personally I don't think the movies celebrate the jedi leaving behind a woman in chains who helped them, causing one of their students immense emotional turmoil, to teach him a lesson about attachment, but ymmv

Han really spends all of a new hope trying to annoy Leia into pegging him huh.
He refers to her by over dramatic and mocking titles, does stupid reckless shit for her to call him a dumbass, enjoys being insulted by her and being called “scoundrel”, and makes a big deal about “no one ordering me around except me”—that boy might as well be wearing a pair of booty shorts that says “top this” on the ass
The Mandalorian was the first piece of Star Wars media I ever consumed.
For a while I had been thinking that I should watch Star Wars if only for the sake of my cultural education (what a nerd amirite). So I decided to watch the movies chronologically, Prequels first (God help me) and although they were somewhat interesting, they did not have that same, for lack of a better word, magic as the Mandalorian had. It actually wasn't until I watched the OT that I was like "ok so that's why people like Star Wars". (I didn't have a very strong opinion about Rogue One when I first watched it and Solo was ehh). It wasn't until I watched The Last Jedi (God help me) when I realized "oh that's why I like Star Wars". I like the sequels a lot but they do have problems. Then when season 2 of the Mandalorian came out it just clicked. This is it. This is what I love. The realization that this is what Star Wars can be was phenomenal.
Around the same time I started the sequels I started watching TCW. The first season and second season were slow-going for me but eventually (kind of suddenly actually) it turned into something that I just needed more of. The Clone Wars is actually so good that it made me retroactively care about these characters who I just couldn't have cared less for before (except for Obi Wan because he is best Jedi). For a show to have been able to actually make me like Anakin? That's a good show. (Because I hate Anakin in the movies with a burning passion)
So that's my weird rant thing about Star Wars.
If you have an opinion please comment because I like reading people's opinions.
I love The Mandalorian so much guys.
Sorry it was so long.
There was a time jump with HanLeia between ANH and ESB, but that was mostly to establish that there even was a "HanLeia" in the first place: it set up the stakes to make up for the lack of romantic tension between them in ANH. The real developments of Leia admitting her feelings, Han becoming less smarmy, and the actual painful separation happen onscreen. In terms of coherent romantic beats, the PT is more traditional than the OT, since the PT was planned as a complete trilogy from the start.
Agreed. For all I like HanLeia, they didn’t have a lot of significant interactions in ANH (which, as you point out, was originally intended to be a standalone movie rather than a first act of a trilogy, even though by that point Lucas already had plenty of ideas to fill at least a few sequels. But there was no *plan* back then, like there was for the PT or there’s now for the ST). The time jump, in that case, was useful to solidify those scarce interactions into an iconic routine (banter + exaggerated hostility towards each other + awkwardness), which in turn served as the necessary status quo for the ship to develop.
I actually had someone try to explain to me yesterday that the original Star Wars movies aren’t actually objectively good films, they’re just kinda fun
like what is he trying to prove
They actually legitimately are, tho? And ESB is genuinely one of the best films ever made?
Star Wars video vs DVD. Some changes worked for the better some didn't. They're both fine to watch, why is the difference between them so polarizing?
