Riccardo wasn't sure how this was going to go. When he had learned that not only were Marius and Amadeo alive, but together, he had wondered how they would take to his sudden reappearance. He admitted it, he had been afraid. He'd stood outside of Trinity Gate a few times, wanting to go inside, hearing Amadeo's voice, though it sounded different. Lower. Deeper. A little colder. It had still been Amadeo. And Marius's voice, and his soft laugh. Oh how he missed them dearly.
He had joined with Marius's enemies, willingly. Could Marius ever forgive such a transaction? But he had been alone for decades now - and it was starting to wear on him. He needed - someone. So here he stood - outside of the grand Chateau that had been rebuilt, many immortals he'd come into contact with had either been here or heard that it was a good place to come. And so here he was. He knew that they were here. They had to be. But maybe - just maybe - Marius could forgive him. He longed to look into those eyes again, to know, really know, that he was alive.
He walked into the Chateau quietly, greeted by some woman who greeted him. He requested an audience with Marius, and she instructed him to wait in one of the antechambers and she would fetch him. He stood in the small room, fidgeting with a ring on his finger that was almost as old as he was. He stared up at a painting of who could only be Lestat. He knew the style, every brush stroke was familiar to him. He reached out to touch the painting slowly, fingers brushing just over the frame until he heard someone enter the room behind him.
He froze, biting his lip just a little and bowed his head slightly before he slowly turned to face the man who had only seen the back of his head, and looked across the room at the blond man standing there, as if he had stepped through time. He still wore red, though the fashion was a little different, but his eyes were the same. The color of his hair. The shape of his face. Riccardo gave a small smile.
"Buona sera, Maestro." He lowered his hands to hang by his sides. "I bet you weren't expecting... me."
