Try to keep subjects directed at the Three Peas, please!
You can ask ABOUT them, but not directly to them - unless they're "and Guests!"
Hi!! For the ask game, could you do 4, 36 or 45 for aftg? Hope this helps with your writers block 😊
Hi anon!! I don't know why but my mind immediately went to a dance of some sort given the first prompt, so I decided...prom. I'm so sorry I keep defaulting back to andreil's POV why do I do this ;-; I thought that all 3 of these could work together so I tried to work them all in, but this also ended up being longer than I originally meant it to. Thank you @paradoxolotl for letting me use the peas meme. I hope you enjoy :)
4 - I've never seen you dance before
36 - I should've stayed in bed
45 - Look at them, their perfect tans and cold margaritas...assholes
"Is it weird that the only one of us with a date is Aaron?" Neil asked. He was tying his tie in front of the mirror with Kevin standing next to him, doing far worse at tying his own.
"That's not true. Nicky has someone, too," Kevin pointed out while giving up on tying his tie, throwing it to the ground. "That's it. I'm not going."
"Hey, we had an agreement," Neil reminded him. "Also, that guy isn't even his boyfriend."
"You're not my boyfriend, either." Kevin sat down in the nearest chair, so Neil took that as his opportunity to grab the fallen tie and start to secure it around Kevin's neck.
"Glad to hear it," Neil mused as he worked. "You promised me pancakes if I was your date to make Jean and Jeremy jealous."
"That's not...!" Kevin sighed loudly. "That is not why we're doing this."
"It better be. Otherwise I could be getting pancakes now."
Kevin gave him an unimpressed look and got to his feet, loosening the tie that Neil had deliberately tied too tightly. "This was a stupid plan," he ended up telling his reflection.
"At least you know that," Neil said back, grabbing the jacket to his suit. "When's everyone coming?"
"Five?" Kevin guessed, following Neil downstairs. "This is going to be a disaster."
Probably. Neil usually ended up around disasters.
The Minyard twins, their cousin Nicky, and Aaron's date Katelyn showed up at five exactly. Kevin's dad let them in and stood next to his wife while she talked to Katelyn and Nicky about her own prom experience. Neil wasn't interested in listening, and instead went over to Andrew, who had dressed in a black suit that seemed to fit him like a glove. It was weird to see after getting used to him only wearing baggy clothes or T-shirts.
"You're coming to prom?" Neil asked him.
Andrew looked him up and down, as if he was judging whether or not Neil had dressed up enough to go as well. Neil had gotten a gray suit because Kevin had asked - Neil was unfortunately suspicious that either Jean or Jeremy would be wearing a gray suit as well - and paired it with a black tie and white dress shirt. The formal wear wasn't exactly stiff, but it wasn't comfortable to move around in like Neil's exy uniform.
"Why else would I be here?" Andrew asked, bringing Neil's attention back to the present.
"Who're you going with?" Neil asked.
"Nobody."
"Wait," Neil said with a frown. "Isn't that why people go to prom?"
Andrew shrugged, his hands ending up in the pockets of his pants. "Why are you going, Neil?"
"Because Kevin told me he'd buy me pancakes if I went as his date to make Jean and Jeremy jealous."
It was clear that Andrew hadn't been expecting that answer. He froze completely, then looked Neil up and down again. "You don't like pancakes."
"I will at ten tonight," Neil said, smirking to himself. "If it makes Kevin have an aneurism? I couldn't pass it up. You can come, too."
"Not interested."
"I'll buy you whatever you want."
"You're driving."
It was easy to talk like this with Andrew. There had been some weird tension between them after Kevin asked him to prom with a huge prom-posal that had not been agreed upon. And in front of their whole team! The only reason Neil still told him 'yes' was because he really wanted to annoy Kevin at IHop that night. Andrew had been avoiding him for almost three weeks. After the first week Neil had given up, trusting Andrew to come to his senses and talk when he was ready.
"Pictures!" Nicky yelled loudly enough to make Neil jump, forcing his gaze to leave Andrew's face. He glanced over his shoulder to watch as Aaron and Katelyn were shuffled towards the back doors, where they'd most likely take said pictures.
"I should've stayed in bed," Aaron declared.
"But now you're here," Nicky said, reaching to pat one of Aaron's shoulders. He was quickly shrugged off. "Go on, in front of the bushes, you two!"
Katelyn was wearing a floor length pastel blue dress that wouldn't stop flowing in the breeze, matching the tie that Aaron had added to his black suit. They took a few pictures in front of the flower bushes until Nicky was satisfied, arms around each other and grinning like idiots.
"Okay, Kevin? Neil?" Nicky called. "Want some pictures?"
"Nope," Neil decided for the both of them.
Nicky opened his mouth, probably to tell them they should take some, but quickly snapped his jaw closed. Neil was pretty sure it had something to do with Andrew standing at his side. "Okay, then!" Nicky said, walking back to the house. "Let's go spike the punch before anyone else can!"
As everyone else wandered inside, Neil looked at Andrew. "Will the punch really be spiked?"
"Most likely," Andrew replied. "Relax. I brought you a water bottle."
"Oh. Thanks."
Andrew nodded and walked back inside. Neil watched him go and wondered why he'd bring a water bottle in the first place.

The prom theme for this year was 'magic', or something, because everything had labels in funky text, there were lights made to look like they were floating, and just about everyone there other than the students was wearing some kind of pointed hat. Neil wasn't sure why there had to be a theme to prom at all, but he was willing to go with it if he could get some pancakes later.
"Love potion?" he asked, reading the label to the tiny pink vial on their table. "Really?"
"I'll give you a hundred dollars if you drink that," Andrew whispered to him.
Neil snorted. "I bet it's paint."
"I bet it's glitter glue."
Kevin grabbed the vial and put it as far away from the two as possible. "We're not going to the hospital tonight."
"You're no fun, Kevin," Neil grumbled.
The whole dance started off with dinner. The school had caterers that passed out things like chicken and ravioli with sides of beans and peas. Neil ate his chicken and ravioli but saved his peas, exchanging a look with Andrew, who was sitting next to him. Understanding passed between them.
"We need more," Andrew pointed out.
"You're right," Neil agreed.
Andrew got up. "Be back soon."
Neil watched him walk towards the table Jean and Jeremy were sitting at. He didn't watch what interaction occurred, instead turning back around to face everyone sitting at their table. It was big enough for just about all the Foxes to sit there. Allison and Renee were dates, along with Matt and Dan. The only reason Seth came along was because Allison made him.
"Where's Andrew going?" Nicky asked.
"To get something," Neil explained.
"From Jean?" Kevin asked, face slightly paling. "Oh no. Neil, get him back here."
"Let him have fun," Neil said, nudging his peas with his fork.
"He's going to freak Jean out and then he'll never talk to me again, which means Jeremy will never talk to me again, which means - "
"Calm down, drama queen," Neil told Kevin. "Drink some water."
"Right," Kevin said, nodding and grabbing the water bottle he'd brought along. "Water."
Neil had a feeling whatever was in there wasn't actually water.
A few minutes passed and the conversation continued to flow. The band started up, lights flashing on the dance floor on the other side of the hall prom had been set up in. People got up to go dance, including Nicky, his date, Aaron and Katelyn. The rest of the Foxes were slow to get up.
"Just so you know," Neil said to Kevin, "I'm not dancing with you."
"The feeling is mutual," Kevin mumbled, drinking more out of his water bottle.
Another moment passed, and Andrew returned. In his fist were a bunch of peas that he dropped onto Neil's plate. Neil couldn't help but smirk at the sight, grabbing a few and looking at Kevin, who was frowning at the sight.
"Did you rob people of their peas?" he asked.
"Yes," Andrew confirmed. "Open wide, Kevin."
After spending a few minutes throwing peas at Kevin, Neil decided to walk with Andrew to the large table that had desserts. Just about everyone else in the school was too busy dancing to notice all the slices of cake, which was perfect for Andrew's appetite. Neil waited for him to pick something out, looking towards the dance floor so that Andrew wouldn't scold him for staring again. That's where he saw Aaron and Katelyn dancing: her like a professional, him like he had eight extra limbs he didn't know how to control.
"Don't look now, but your brother looks stupid," Neil said over the loud music.
"He always looks stupid," Andrew shouted back.
They brought back five slices of cake to their table. Kevin was leaning heavily against his chair and didn't seem to notice how much cake Andrew was eating. With nothing else entertaining to do, Neil watched Andrew eat his cake and mumbled along to the words of a song playing if he recognized it.
"Do you want to dance?" Andrew asked, a tiny frown on his face.
"Not really," Neil decided.
"Then stop staring."
Neil did, but only because Andrew asked him to. He looked at the dancefloor again, watching as Katelyn and Aaron returned to their table, out of breath. "I've never seen you dance before," Neil said to Aaron.
"Okay...?" Aaron asked.
"You're awful."
"Fuck you."
As the night went on, Kevin kept drinking his water, Andrew kept eating his cake, and everyone else kept dancing. Neil felt pretty content to sit in place at the table. It wasn't crowded, he was around people he enjoyed the company of, and he was going to get pancakes in just a few hours. He had no idea how Andrew was going to be able to eat pancakes on top of all that cake, but Neil had been surprised before.
While everyone else was away, Andrew left to use the bathroom. Neil shifted in his chair to look at Kevin, who didn't seem to be doing well. He wouldn't stop blinking or rolling his neck like he was trying to crack it, which also helped to make him look horrifying. "You doing okay, Kevin?" Neil asked.
"Look at them, with their perfect tans and cold margaritas..." Kevin trailed off, but he finally stopped rolling his neck to glare at whoever he was looking at. "Assholes."
"Pretty sure you're the asshole, Kevin," Neil pointed out. He glanced away to where Jean and Jeremy were sitting, but he didn't think they were drinking margaritas. He was also pretty sure that Jean wasn't tan. "They're trying to enjoy their night. You're calling them names."
"You called me a name!"
Neil rolled his eyes. "If you want them to be your boyfriends, you should work on being nicer."
"I'm a fucking delight," Kevin hissed.
"You're not," Neil corrected. "I can't believe I'm going to help you get boyfriends."
"Do not," Kevin whined.
"Too late," Neil said, getting out of his seat. He walked towards Jean and Jeremy and waved when they noticed him coming. "Hey guys," he greeted. "I know that he sucks, but could you do me a favor and hear Kevin out about dating you two?"
They both exchanged a look. "What?" Jeremy ended up asking.
"He really likes you both," Neil said, "and I'm not supposed to be doing this, but he's been a pain in my ass. And I'd rather he be a pain in yours."
Jean choked on his not-margarita. Jeremy patted his back until he caught his breath. Neil considered telling him not to inhale while he was drinking.
"Does he really like us?" Jeremy asked. "We've been trying to figure out how to ask him out."
"Oh, yeah," Neil confirmed. "Take him. Just not tonight, he promised me pancakes."
"Okay," Jeremy agreed. "Tell him we'll see him on Monday?"
Neil saluted the two and went back to the table, where Kevin had either fallen asleep or passed out. "Up," Neil demanded, nudging him. "It's time for pancakes."
"I hate pancakes," Kevin said as he sat up.
"You're an abomination," Andrew told him as he returned.
Neil took the keys to Andrew's Maserati and led them out. Everyone else they'd driven with already had different plans for the night, so they could be out as late as they'd like to be. "Oh, yeah," Neil said as he backed out of the parking lot. "Kevin, Jeremy says he'll see you on Monday."
"Can we ban Mondays?" Kevin asked from the backseat. "Like, forever?"
"Today's Monday," Andrew hummed, leaning against the window.
"Shut up, Andrew, no it's not."
The nearest IHop was about five minutes away. Andrew confiscated Kevin's water bottle when he tried to grab it, leading the way inside. They got a table and Kevin some real water while they decided what pancakes to get.
"This is fun," Neil declared. "Let's go out in suits more often."
"Never again," Kevin huffed. He was clearly starting to sober up.
Neil ordered a plain pancake and hashbrowns. Andrew ordered a stack of chocolate-chocolate-probably more chocolate pancakes with syrup and whipped cream. Kevin refused to look at him the entire time.
"This was the deal, Kevin," Neil reminded him. "I was your date to make two people who already liked you not even remotely jealous, and you get to watch us eat pancakes."
"I need to go to bed," Kevin replied.
When they were done, Neil drove Kevin home and gave him back his water bottle. He also drove Andrew home, handing back the car keys once they were parked in the driveway.
"Did you have a good prom?" he asked, hoping to delay going home.
Andrew shrugged. "I've been to worse."
"I bought you pancakes."
"Mm-hm."
"Okay." Neil started to turn. "Bye, I guess."
Before he could reach the end of the driveway, Andrew called his name. "Want to watch movies and eat popcorn?"
"Yes," Neil said, smiling. He rushed back towards Andrew and followed him inside the house. It was only as he walked through the front door that a potential problem hit him. "I don't have a change of clothes, though."
the people living below me in my dorm are playing the black eyed peas real loud and i started singing at the part where it goes "alright, alright, alright, alright, alright,ok now ladies!" and I hear from down the hall: "YEAH?" and i am in love.
