we’ve got an interesting development on the his dark materials front today
so remember how a while back i reported on that set that bad wolf’s been building? the one that i was speculating was maybe for trollesund or the gyptian meeting place or something? that this one user’s been told that construction was to continue until october (1, 2)
WELL today (thanks to trusty dw spoilerhound girlyletters on twitter) i found this fb post with really great shots of the very same set (some of which you can see above), showcasing some really impressive progress on it so far, but more importantly - the photographer got to speak to the crew on the set, and 1. got to confirm that it is indeed for hdm (before that we only knew that it was a bad wolf thing, hdm was just a likely conclusion) 2. and most interestingly, “Production of the set is supposed to go on until Christmas and filming will start in 2019”
now what does that mean. so far i thought that hdm was most likely to air in early/mid 2019, with previous inside info being that filming was to end in december but if filming in maybe-trollesund was only to BEGIN in 2019, mid-late 2019 seems to be the new likely option now. that is... unless they are planning to film the first 2 series back to back, which seems unlikely but not entirely out of the question. it just throws the exact filming schedule back into the speculatory realm for now. on a side note, assuming the set if for trollesund, and also assuming (a slightly wilder guess) that it’ll be the last portion of filming for s1 (since they were supposed to finish in december - i doubt they can draw out the filming of 8 episodes much longer than over 6 months, even for a high-end drama) that’ll make lyra and the gyptians’ going north on their rescue expedition the end of s1 - which was the cutting point i originally came up with for s1, so that’ll be satisfactory if true it’ll of course also confirm that s1 will only consist of half of tgc, with s2 being the second half - since right now we only know for sure that s1 consists of tgc (thank god for jack thorne going out of his way to confirm that, twice), with no official confirmation of just how much of the book is in it
so right now my biggest question is whether they’ll be trying to film s1 and s2 back to back, or if this slight change in the filming schedule doesn’t mean anything of that sort
