Catch Up Here: Chp. 1 , Chap. 2
Y/N’s POV (by @ready-set-run)
I sit politely at a table in the back of an Inn. It was closed just for this meeting. I feel my pulse racing at the prospect of what this might be about. There are so many possibilities of what this could be about. My mind fills with ideas. Very few of them are things that could end up being a good thing for me. Even less of them are even remotely realistic.
I jump in my seat as the fire beside me pops loudly. Everything about this situation is putting me on edge. It doesn’t help that I’m the only one present in the Inn. In fact, there isn’t even a barkeep wiping down his place of work. I watch the flickering flames in the lights around the inn dance as a slight breeze permeates the walls of the Inn.
After hours of waiting, I begin to feel restless. I know this meeting must happen, but I don’t like the thought of just sitting and waiting. This should be a faster process, shouldn’t it? One would think that something of this magnitude would require at least some amount of urgency.
It’s not until the sun is casting long shadows across the tables and floors of the inn that someone finally comes through the large door at the front of the building. I look up quickly from where I’ve been sitting all this time. I figured that it would be a poor decision to not follow the simple instructions I was given. A tall figure strides in, and for a moment I think it’s Dean, until two other figures follow closely behind and move to guard the door. This is the meeting that I’ve been waiting for since the bell rang…
“Y/N. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you,” the tall figure says from the shadows, his voice like honey.
“Why am I here, sir?” I whisper softly, still unable to identify the man standing before me.
He slowly emerges from the shadows, pulling his hood away from his face. I can’t help but gasp at the identity it reveals.
“Please. Call me Christopher.”
Dean’s POV (by @cas-backwards-tie)
When I made it back home I brought the goods inside and lied them on the counter, speeding up my mother and brother on the news I’d heard while in town. “I suspected it was for something of that sort.” My mother confided eventually, patting my back lightly.
“Mmmm… Makes sense I suppose.” Sam pondered aloud as he continued eating his supper: steak bits, broccoli and potatoes. I gazed down at my food, not really feeling too hungry even though I knew I hadn’t eaten too much that day.
Yelling and smashing was heard from next door as we all turned to look in that direction- out of the window with concern and worry-stricken expressions. “I’ll be right back!” I quickly said before getting up and running out the door to where I knew the wreckage was coming from- Y/N’s house.
It wasn’t too often that chaos seemed to flitter from Y/N’s house. Her parents didn’t get along very well unfortunately, and sometimes her dad would become physical if he was doped up from decanter and let his anger take ahold of him. Many times in the past I remember having to pry him from their mom or one of her sisters. Y/N I felt always looked up to me somewhat for doing that- for keeping her safe in some sense.
As I rushed into the house, not bothering to knock what I witnessed was a scene I hadn’t really seen before- Y/N’s dad was smashing plate and beating on their cupboards while Y/N’s three younger sisters were crying at the table. “What’s going on?! Y/D/N stop it! Stop! What are you doing?! Calm down!” I yelled as I tried to restrain him but he kept writhing in my arms, eventually giving up and sinking to the floor sobbing in my arms.
I looked around for Y/N and her mother- which were the only two missing from the scene. I worriedly asked Y/N’s younger sister what happened, what caused this and where her mother and older sister were. Before she could respond Y/N’s dad started talking almost incoherently as he was sobbing. “She’s gone Dean! She’s GONE! They took her! I’m so, so sorry.” He sobbed in my arms as I looked from him to the sisters, watching as they began to cry again.
“What do you mean ‘they took her’? WHO?” I began to feel the dread and fear build in my belly as I tried to keep it together for all of them.
“It was the Prince- he, he- he took her Dean- he asked her to be his wife, and knowing Y/N she thought that if she could bargain that he would give us some of his money, and make sure we lived a better life than she’d sell herself.” Y/N’s oldest sister after her responded to me as she stared into my eyes with a look that only said one thing: “I’m sorry.”
“And you let this happen?!” I began to yell at Y/N’s dad, letting go of him and backing up and I grabbed my short hair between my hands- I was going to ask him for her hand- I was going to ask her to marry…. Me. Hot tears began to run down my face without my notice- She’s gone- She’s gone, forever. Negativity began to grow within my body- a shell with a small seed growing within. “She’s gone!” I cried, back hitting the wall as I began to fall down it.
The rest of the night was a blur- I remember Sam running in trying to assess the situation as I hadn’t come home in over two hours. Apparently Mom and him could still hear yelling coming from the house so he came to check on us. Sam took care of everything- apparently Y/N’s mom was there the whole time, she was just sleeping from having cried all day… I couldn’t sleep that night with the same thought rotating through my head over and over, never seizing to relent it’s hold on me: Why would she do this to me?
Y/N’s POV (by @ready-set-run)
I’m brought back to the castle with a hollow space in my chest. This doesn’t feel real. I shouldn’t be the one chosen to marry a prince. I should be the one to marry Dean. The thought startles me and I blink rapidly a couple of times trying not to think about where or what Dean’s doing right now.
“What’s the matter, my dear?” Prince Christopher asks me, taking my hand and gently squeezing it from across the long, polished dining table.
I shift uncomfortably in my new elaborate dress and give him a false smile. “Nothing, Prince,” I murmur quietly. The room feels so empty and lonely without my family there. Not only that, but the king and queen decided to give this first night just to us.
He nods and gently presses his lips to my cheek. A strong sense of betrayal fills me as this happens; I don’t do anything to stop it, however. I can’t dismiss my fiancé’s request.
“As I said before, please, call me Christopher. If we are to wed, then don’t you think we should be a bit less formal with each other?”
I nod, knowing it’ll be difficult to call him by his first name. I never thought that I would refer to my king-to-be by his first name.
We eat in silence for a bit longer before a delicious smelling dessert is brought out to us. Even under the circumstances, my mouth waters at the prospect of eating such a lovely treat. I use my manners while eating it, but still manage to finish before Christopher.
I hesitate before speaking. “Why did you choose me to be your bride?” I ask him softly, heart pounding in my chest. “There are so many beautiful princesses and duchesses. Why choose a commoner?”
He smiles. I can tell it’s supposed to be a gentle, innocent action, but something about it bothers me. “I felt that it would show your family and those around you that I care about everyone.” He takes my hand again and presses his lips to the back of it. My mind briefly reminds me of when Dean would do the same thing. “Especially beautiful women like yourself.”
My cheeks grow hot and I look down at the empty space in front of me. The only thing I see is my reflection staring back up at me, and she doesn’t look happy. I blink away a couple of tears before standing up suddenly, my chair squealing against the floor.
“I’m going to go to bed.” I say this quickly and when I look at him, he has a startled expression on his face. Knowing my duties as a wife-to-be, I walk calmly over to his side and kiss him gently on the cheek. “Goodnight, Christopher,” I murmur more quietly. I rest my hand on his arm before exiting the grand dining room.
I’m numb as I make my way to my new luxurious bedroom. Everything is so beautiful and perfect… I hardly want to touch anything. But drowsiness overwhelms me as soon as I shut the door and I change into a more modest night gown. I stand at the side of the bed for a few moments, running my hands over the smooth silk covers, before pulling them back and climbing beneath them. The bed is so big it’s hard to fall asleep. In the back of my mind, I know it would be easier to sleep if Dean were here with me… but that isn’t an option anymore. Not only do I not have Dean, but I don’t have the comforting familiar sounds of my family either. I begin to feel tears running down my cheeks but I make no effort to stop them. There’s no one to see them, and there’s no one to pretend for. I finally fall asleep with the moon high in the sky, tears high in the sky and thoughts of Dean engulfing me.

Dean’s POV
The days leading up to the Lord’s day felt like years in contrast to what was actually only about twelve hours.
The Lord’s day had finally arrived, and it was time for church- excitement built up in my chest as my family made our way to the chapel; the sun seeming to always blaze especially hot on his day. “So… Should we be expecting you back at the house after this?” My younger brother Sam hinted at something to which I shoved his shoulder in embarrassment.
“No. And I’m assuming that you overheard my conversation and that’s how you know this. Am I wrong?” I briefly glance at Sam to show him my slight umbrage at his eavesdropping. Sam’s face contorts with guilty and he looks to the ground as we approach the chapel; his hair covering his eyes as he begins to laugh.
“I just can’t help it- I mean, honestly Dean. We all know how the both of you feel for each other! Everyone knows except for apparently the both of you!” Sam chides as he grins and waves to a few of our neighbors as we enter the chapel. I quickly scan the crowd for Y/N, hoping to catch a glimpse of her before the sermon starts- to my dismay I don’t see her.
“Let us all rise in the name of the Lord and show praise for our forgiveness and repentance!” The pastor begins with a familiar hymn, which we commonly sang before every sermon each week. I rose from the bench and held the pamphlet in my hand with the lyrics just in case any one of us: my brother, mom or I needed a quick refresher.
I tried to again scan the crowd, but didn’t want to be caught not fully paying attention or focused on the task at hand: The Lord’s work. I stopped trying to find Y/N and figured I’d see her soon enough- three hours wasn’t too long to wait when I know that I’ll be spending time with her very shortly and even so, it wasn’t too long to wait when I considered the fact that soon a few hours might soon be a lifetime with her.
Church seemed boring to me today, though I feel that was because my mind was very preoccupied with thoughts and memories of Y/N. As well as the nervousness of debating when and where and how I should even approach the subject of a proposal to her; to asking her to be mine would certainly be a quest for any daring, brave man. I just so happened to be the one.
I felt hopeless when I walked out of the church, not having seen Y/N even in the chapel after the sermon- Maybe she went to the creek already I internally fought my negative thoughts that told me she didn’t actually want to see me- Even though she asked me, which wouldn’t make sense.
As I walked away from the chapel I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around with a smile on my face, “Dean?” She asked quietly as I gave her a warm smile, offering her my arm so that we could take a walk.
“Mom- I, I’m gonna go, okay? I will be back soon. Is that alright?” I had always asked my Mom for permission, checking to see if she was alright or needed anything, even the tiniest bit of help around the house.
“Eh, we’ll be okay” Sam replied as he linked his arm with my Mom’s, “Go- go have fun you two.” Sam snickered as he walked away with my Mother. Y/N chuckled a little but stopped when I turned towards her, obviously not having thought that Sam’s comment was funny.
“Oh, lighten up Dean! He’s only playing with you.” She always brought out the positivity in me, reminding me that the world wasn’t always dark or distasteful or even full of hate. There was love on this Earth and even though it might not even be to the fullest extent, it was still probably the greatest thing I had ever experienced. Y/N tugged me along to the creek, leading us through thicket and fallen stump as we eventually reached the place.
I began to grow nervous, knowing that I wanted to ask for her hand… It isn’t the right time Dean- you’ve both only just started communing again, don’t rush it. I knew that it was too soon, and it had only been so long since we’d last properly spent even a decent amount of time together; I only wish that we would do this more.
Y/N sat on a stump near the creek and took off her Sunday slippers and socks. “Do you think it’s still cold?” Y/N asked as it was only early April, and from our past swims in this creek I’d dare say it was.
“Yes. Probably still freezing, but hey, why don’t you find out?” I smirked as I approached her, Y/N looking up with a mocking, terrified expression on her face.
“Don’t you even dare-” she squealed as I swooped her up and quickly over my shoulder, walking further towards the creek before swinging her slightly as if I was going to actually toss her, and then I set her down and began to laugh wholeheartedly. “That was not funny!” She exclaimed before pretending to be grouchy and going back to her stump. She then looked up at me and smiling and giggling; she could never stay mad at me for long.
Y/N’s POV
We stay by the creek all day, nibbling on little bits of food we either find by the water or that I brought along in my small basket. At about mid-afternoon, I find myself curled up beside Dean, his arm wrapped behind my shoulders. He’s quiet, like he is most of the time, but I can tell something is eating away at him.
“What’s going on in that crazy mind of yours?” I murmur, looking up at him. It’s so tempting to run my fingers through his short hair, but it feels too soon to be getting that physical. We only just started spending time together for a significant amount of time.
Dean looks down at me and shakes his head, a smile playing on his lips. “It’s nothing you need to worry about,” he says mysteriously, tapping my nose with his finger tip.
I squeeze my eyes shut and he chuckles softly. When I open my eyes again, I find him looking down at me with a loving look in his eyes. I silently scold myself, telling my heart it’s playing tricks on me. He breaks the silence as he sits up, propping himself up on his arms.
“Today has been great, Y/N,” he tells me softly, his eyes never leaving me.
I find myself trying to hide a little from his gaze, feeling embarrassed and even a bit indecent only having my undergarments on since we were swimming. My skin grows hot under his eyes and I look down.
He places two of his fingers under my chin and tilts my head back up so that I’m forced to look at him again. Once he’s sure I won’t try and look down again, he removes his hand. “Thank you for inviting me here today.”
I smile at him, resting my hand on his arm. “Of course. It’s been so long since either of us have really had a break. I figured you deserved a little bit of rest.”
He chuckles and lowers his gaze, smiling. That smile. All perfect white teeth… I think he catches me staring because he laughs a little more and stands up. “Come on. We still have a little bit of daylight left. Let’s swim again before it gets too cold.” He offers me his hand and I take it, letting him help me up.
We wade into the water, not as energetic as before. We mostly just walk up and down the bank, talking about little pointless questions and ignoring our more adult responsibilities. Before I know it, the sun is setting over the trees and the sky is darkening above us.
I step out onto the bank and pull my Sunday dress back on. I don’t even bother putting my Sunday shoes back on, though. I put them in my basket. I give Dean a bit of a sad smile as he offers me his arm, knowing that our time together was ending. I take it and silently let him begin to walk me back home.
We don’t speak the whole while. We just look around us in a comfortable silence, the only sounds being the noises of the farms we pass and the birds in the air. We arrive at my family’s property in what feels like far too soon and I’m reluctant to unhook my arm from around Dean’s. But I do it anyhow and turn to face him. I become a bit lost for words as the sun seems to make a halo around Dean’s head. I finally manage to whisper, “I had a wonderful day today.”
He smiles and nods a bit, attempting to bow. “Of course, m’lady.” He looks a bit ridiculous, and granted he is being a little bit cheesy, but I find it cute. He takes a step closer to me so that we’re mere inches away. “Thank you for making my day.” My breath catches as he places his hand on my cheek. My eyes lock on his and I find that I can’t look away. He leans in, but stops just as his lips graze mine. “Good night, Y/N,” he whispers, his breath hot against my skin.
Before I can reply, he’s gone. I glance around before rushing into the house, heart racing. This is the first full day back with Dean… and he’s already messing with my head. And I can’t say that I mind…
Dean’s POV
I didn’t get much sleep that night. I couldn’t stop thinking about my day with Y/N and how carefree I felt, not having to feel worried or like the weight of the world was on my shoulder’s to take care of everything at once. Her presence affected me like that, and I missed having her around more often. Morning was arriving as I could see the sun rising through my eastern facing window, the roosters cocking at the rise of the sun knowing that the day was starting. As I make my way out of bed, clothing myself and walking to the kitchen to make breakfast I hear the town bell ring. The town bell was only rung in a number of situations: There was an emergency, there was a meeting, the arrival of someone important. Though the bell was rung under all these circumstances word got around really fast and everyone had to rush to get to the town square- where the bell was located- so that we could be there for whatever was going on.
“Everyone line up shoulder to shoulder! Children and adults all together, line up!” I hear people yelling, my brother, mother and I making worried eye contact every once in a while as we skeptically lined up next to one another. Where’s Y/N? The thought races through my head as this is a new request- this has never happened before, and I began to get frightened as I didn’t know what was going to happen- what do they want? The royal guard, let alone the Prince never come into town.
The royal guard pushed us and shoved to get us all in a straight line, squished shoulder to shoulder with whomever was standing next to you. “Stand still- and wait your turn!” The royal guards command as we wait patiently for the Prince to arrive.
Not soon enough the Prince arrives by horseback, galloping towards the people, passing by them slowly, inspecting every couple of people. He started to go slower, scanning the people as he passed them by. What was he looking for? He looked like he was determined- searching for something precise.
As he rode by he didn’t even pay my family a glance, not bothering to search us for whatever he was looking for- if he was looking for anything at all. Eventually he got to the end of the line and stopped, getting off his horse they then rang the bell again and told everyone to go home and continue their work as usual.
The royal guards turned everyone around and pushed us all out of the town square as fast as they could. “What was that about?” I question aloud to my family as we walk back to our property.
“I’m, not sure.” Sam replied as he opened the door for us, waiting for us to walk through so that we could have breakfast. Mom seemed kind of weird as she didn’t speak, and seemed to have a hard look of puzzlement on her face.
“What’s wrong Mom?” I questioned her as she told us to sit down, her going to make breakfast for us.
“I’m not sure Dear. I am just confused by what just happened. I’d just continue our day as normal and wait to hear if there’s any news by sundown.” It made sense, and both Sam and I didn’t want to argue with our Mother so we both agreed and proceeded outside to continue with our days. I gathered the eggs from the chicken coop as Sam milked the cows.
As I walked out to the woodshed to get more timber for various projects and for a fire I looked over to Y/N’s house- expecting to see her family bustling about their own farm which was one property away from my own. Surprisingly there was no one outside of Y/N’s house- there was just an empty field, with no one in sight. Maybe they’re just inside- maybe some of her sisters are in the barns, or in the woods looking for berries… I mean, they wouldn’t just be… sleeping in, would they? I tried to find logic in seeing no one moving about the property, a small shred of worry filling my heart.
Later Sam gave me a few bags of wood-shavings and told me to take them to town to sell them- as directed by Mother. “Oh, and she said that if you sold enough and have enough money, can you buy some another sack of flour?” Sam added as he tossed the last bag of wood-shavings in the wheelbarrow I was going to take to town.
As I made my way through town there was a lot of whispering and gossip roaming about at every corner, people sharing secrets and glancing to make sure no one saw. This worried me as our town is usually very open about everything- everyone knows everything because it’s such a small town, where no one judges each other- at least in theory.
When I sold my wood-shavings to the town store and other villagers I was greeted with kindness and a glint in the eye from my friend Claude who I frequently sold to. As I had sold enough wood-shavings to buy a sack of flour I waited for Claude to get the sack of flour for me from the back. When Claude came back I figured I’d confront all the gossip, “Claude, do you know what this is all about?” I gestured to two older ladies whispering to one another in the corner of the store.
“I’ve just heard the whisperings a little bit ago, but” Claude sighs a little as he looks down and shakes his head before looking back into my eyes, “the rumor is that the Prince has been scavenging the towns closest to the kingdom looking for a commoner bride. I personally think it’s just so he’ll look good- marrying a commoner- an act of pity, you know? But that’s what this is all about I suspect.” Claude was always upfront with me, which I appreciated.
As I made my way back home I was met by more whisperings- before I didn’t really want to know what it was about, as I didn’t like stirring the pot of drama- but now I was curious- Who was the Prince looking for? I wondered, knowing there wasn’t too many young girls in our town. He has been looking through all the towns though, so maybe he just didn’t find anyone he liked here. I snickered to myself, knowing that it only meant that the Prince didn’t know real beauty- he couldn’t see past the grime and filth that so commonly were words used when referring to us ‘peasants’.
As I walked down the street I strained to listen to the whispering, hearing different names being thrown out of probably who they suspected was a candidate for the Prince, occasionally I heard Y/N’s name thrown out. Dread filled my gut as I heard Y/N’s name among the whispering- There was no one on her property this morning doubtful thoughts crossed my mind- playing into my fear Maybe that’s why- they took her- she’s gone. I struggled to battle my negative thoughts She’s not gone! She’s still here, she wouldn’t leave you…. Unless she had no choice.
Summary: You’re a commoner. Dean is your best friend since childhood- you two are destined to marry, until the Prince of the kingdom steps in the way.
Warnings: None as of now...

Dean’s POV (by: @cas-backwards-tie )
“Dean! Stop!” she whined as I continued to splash water on her from a few feet away, the blazing summer heat having driven us to playing in the lake. “I swear on my brother’s grave, Dean that if you-” she began to threaten.
I smirked in response as I interrupted her. “If I what?” I threatened to splash more water over her as she quickly countered and splashed water in my direction, water raining down onto my hair and work clothes. I sighed and laughed “now that’s not very fair, is it Y/N?” I questioned before she tried to run, wading as fast as she could through the water to the bank of the lake.
“No, but I knew it’d stop you for a minute!” she yelled back to me over her shoulder as I collected myself, watching her wet clothes stick to her body and her wet hair shine in the mid-day light. Yes- with all due respect I should be working right now, but I figured a little break wouldn’t do too much damage to my father’s property. The thought briefly crossed my mind before I started sprinting after Y/N- she already was disrobing to her bra and underthings so she could dry her dress.
As I crawled out of the water and onto the sand and gravel, I took off my work shirt and placed it on one of the rocks to dry out as I reached where Y/N was sitting. “I guess out little battle is at a seize-fire for now...” I commented, catching my breath while admiring the scene before me. The sun was beating down hard in the middle of June- work season is still in it’s prime time- which is why no one else is currently occupying space at the lake. The lake shimmered a beautiful blue-green as I watched the stillness of it from the shore, eventually looking back to Y/N watching me, beautiful Y/E/C eyes staring into my soul, seemingly able to read my thoughts and know what I’m feeling. I wish this moment would never end.
“I would say so,” she replied nonchalantly, as if not even really thinking of her answer, her thoughts lost to some foreign place. “Would you, Dean? Dean? Dean?”
“Dean!” Y/N shouts, shaking my shoulders as I rapidly blink and suck in a gulp of air. “Are you okay? You weren’t slacking again, were you?” She jokingly reprimands as she lightly taps my shoulder before going back to the barn- bucket in hand- to milk the cows.
Truthfully, I was reminiscing the times when Y/N and I were younger- playing and sneaking around all the time together. Reality eventually caught up with us, telling us that we were needed as adults and weren’t just kids anymore! My father died, leaving me to provide for my mother and little brother which took away from me being able to hang out with Y/N all the time anymore. I used to be able to get away with it sometimes when my father wasn’t paying attention I would sneak off to have a few moments of pleasure and childish fun instead of working. But now he was dead, and I’m not able to just leave whenever I want. Frankly, it sucks. Like a lot... Y/N is one of my neighbors and we frequently pass one another in daily activities and work. We don’t get the chance to talk as much, and we certainly don’t have a lot of time for simple pleasantries, as we both are needed to work for our kingdom and provide for our families.
I continually drift off to my mind and reminisce the old days that Y/N and I would spend time together, and I genuinely miss those days- the comfort of having her there. I simply know from these past few weeks of daydreaming that have become a regular occurrence for me that I’m in love with her. I just need to find the time and place to ask her to marry me.
Y/N’s POV (by: @ready-set-run )
I can’t help but glance at Dean every now and again as I help him around the property. It’s become a normal tendency ever since his father died. I care about him. I worry. I want to make sure he’s okay.
“Y/N. Stop staring,” Dean teases as he strides up to me carrying a heavy-looking sack.
I hide my embarrassment with a laugh. “Yes. That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m definitely not helping you complete your tasks,” I tease right back, trying to be as sarcastic as possible. But I have to admit... I kind of was staring- it’s honestly hard not to stare at Dean when he takes of his shirt on hot work days.
He smiles at me before looking away and continuing on his path to the barn. I look after him for a couple of moments only to be brought out of my thoughts by his younger brother, Sam.
“Y/N, why do you always look at him like that instead of actually talking to him like you used to?” Sam asks me as he strides up with a couple more articles of clothing for me to clean. Sam is much taller than I am. He;s even a bit taller than his brother. He’s sweet though. He was in a way my little brother as well as Dean’s just because of how much time I spent helping take care of him.
I shake my head in dismissal of the thought and continue to clean the clothes already in front of me. “We just don’t really have time anymore, Sammy. We have to take care of what needs to be done.” I let out a small, defeated sigh, hating this fact every time it comes to mind.
Sam laughs and gently grasps my shoulder. “Well I know he’d like to spend more time with you,” he replies before going to deal with his own tasks. We all work like this until sundown- occasional teasing and bantering, lots of work in the hot sun, and very few breaks. Just as I finish my work, Dean come sup to me with his work shirt back on and a half smile on his face. Good Lord I love that smile... I find myself thinking as he approaches. I look back down at my hands to hid my blush form him and try to make myself look like I’m packing things away. “Another full day of work,” I whisper softly, only risking a brief glance up at him.
He comes right up behind me and rests his chin gently on my shoulder, his breath hitting my neck. I shiver a bit at the feeling. “Thanks for working so hard,” he murmurs.
I duck my head away, a strand of hair coming out of it’s place in my bun and falling in front of my eyes. “It’s no problem.” I say quickly. “My little sisters have to learn how to do their chores at some point. I may as well let them learn now while I’m here helping you.” I pick up my small basket of belongings. I hear him shuffle his feet in front of me and I finally bring my gaze up to look at him again.
“You should stay around, Y/N.” He’s looking straight at me with those intense dark eyes of his, making it hard to say no.
“Dean, I wish I could, but I really need to go back home. MY father’s going to start worrying.” I say the last bit half-heartedly.
He nods, looking down at his boots and scuffing them against the ground the way he does when he’s frustrated. “Of course. No worries,” he says a bit too quickly.
Sam’s teasing pops into my head, reminding me of all the times we used to spend together. I bite my lip and take a step closer, causing him to bring his eyes back up. “Tomorrow’s Sunday... You shoulder meet me by the creek.” My voice is soft and a bit eager. “Please?”
Dean smiles and nods, reaching out and taking my hand. “I’ll see you there,” he says before bringing my hand to his lips, keeping eye contact with me all the while.
I blush brightly and smile before slowly backing away. “Tomorrow after church,” I clarify as I head back towards my family’s property.
“Tomorrow after church.” He affirms, with a small half-smile.
I haven’t spent time with just Dean in what feels like years. As I walk away, it takes everything in me not to shout with excitement.
okay so the tea in the ploy is that for the first time in forever i didn't plan a thing!!!! i knew i wanted it to be a fake dating au, ran the idea through my boyfriend who agreed that it was wise for mikasa and eren to make jean jealous.
but after that... i kept on searching on THE TWIST! because it just felt very plain, you know? like... okay, very 2000 rom-com-y, but i wanted to subvert that a bit. i was already writing the first "chapter", and then the second, and then it struck me... SHAKESPEARE!
"Much Ado for Nothing". I didn't have time to re read the play, obviously, so it has nothing to do with what i ended up writing, but i was like: oh, no, the ploy has to be much bigger, it has to involve more and more people...
and that's how i had what i call the epiphany. then, i had a second epiphany, which was to make mikasa know about eren's grudge through levi! and the most painful thing of it all being planned was not having enough time to go back and read slowly whether all of the hidden clues were there. but they were! i think! if you ever re read it, let me know hehehe
thank you for asking! i never get asks so it makes me very happy to ramble <3
