How would the Program residents react to Original Mickey? Considering he's the most popular toon ever, do you think they would still hate him regardless or be iffy and turn around and like him?
Would Program!Mickey be envious of his original? Considering canonically Mickey isn't just liked by the people but villains too, is fearless, really strong, a sorcerer, etc. He's everything he wanted to be, was made for. Would he also be... curious...if you know what I mean. Also did you know that modern Mickey where's contacts? His actual eye are his classic ones. Just a little fact I wanted to share lol.
Fun question!! Thank you!!
The Disney Toons in The Program AU wouldn't be wary of canon/original Mickey at all, though they may be confused as to why there's two Mickeys. The reason they wouldn't mind him, is because nobody knows of what The Program's Mickey does.
Also, I feel I should mention that canon/original Mickey was made with love, joy, and magic, as are (I believe) most other Toons.
The Toons of the Program AU, while having been made with ink, have flesh, blood, and bones, just like we do. Since original Mickey is made with so much magic, so much love, the Toons of the Program AU wouldn't be able to be quite so hateful, quite so cruel, to the original Mickey like they had been with The Program Mickey. Original Mickey is too cheerful, too magical to despise entirely. They may not outright be friends...but they wouldnt put original Mickey through what they put Program Mickey through.
Program Mickey wouldn't be envious, I would say. His feelings towards original Mickey would be somewhat complex.
He'd obviously be confused as to how there's another one of him. He thought he was the only one.
Seeing how much better treatment original Mickey receives would make him sad. Original Mickey doesn't have to do anything for anyone, give anything to anyone, he doesn't even really have to try very hard, and everyone loves him. Program Mickey went through Toons beating him up, doing things to him that should never have been done by anyone, hurting his mind, and even being thrown away, and he's never been given a shred of decency except by those that were literally created to be his companions. Original Mickey can be loved without doing anything for it — Program Mickey went through hell and back and still can't receive an ounce of affection.
Original Mickey being all he is, all Program Mickey could have been, gives Program Mickey a melancholy kind of awe. Could he have been a conductor, a sorcerer, a knight, a celebrity, a show-runner, a star, if he were perfect? If he were beautiful? If he was worthy of being loved, too? If he wasn't what he is now, doing what he does? Learning how he learns? Bonding how he bonds? Living how he lives?
And to answer your other part of this question, he would definitely become curious about original Mickey, too.
What makes Mickey so special?
What about him makes everyone love him so much?
Why did original Mickey's Walt want him when Program Mickey's didn't?
Would Mickey, so happy and all-loving, still be so kind and friendly while he and Program Mickey were spending his final moments together?
And if Program Mickey looks hard enough, digs deep enough, tries hard enough...could he also finally be what everyone loves, wants, respects, and adores in original Mickey?
