He’s been an exceptional stage actor for nearly 20 years, but in Robert Icke’s recent production of Hamlet, he treated theatregoers to a performance of revelatory delicacy and emotional nuance — a career-defining moment.

Norton became a heartthrob as the ultimate man in uniform in the BBC’s adaptation of War & Peace. But he’s more than a pretty face: his role as priest Sidney Chambers in Grantchester has been a hit with the primetime crowd, he stars in horror sequel Flatliners and appeared alongside Diane Keaton and Brendan Gleeson in quirky romance Hampstead. He’s also a talented stage actor, having impressed as a soldier with intense millennial drama Bug.

The Progress 1000 ‘London’s Most Influential People in 2018′: #2 on the list, The Duchess of Sussex

“Our Progress list this year celebrates the diversity of Londoners — the brilliant people, some born here and others who have moved here, who together make our city so exciting.” 

Home Secretary Sajid Javid today tops the Evening Standard’s list of the 1000 most influential Londoners. Both he and the Duchess of Sussex, who enters the top ten for the first time, have this year shattered out-of-date perceptions of the top of society.

Mr Javid, 48, the son of a Pakistani bus driver, became the first MP from an ethnic minority to hold one of the great offices of state. And former actress Meghan Markle, 37, the daughter of an African-American social worker, was embraced as a senior royal. (x)
