Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've been active, and I've been doing a lot of thinking lately...

I've decided to take a break from the queen fandom because of how unwelcoming it has become for me. Since I began here, the first dm anyone has ever sent to me was "bitch, get outta the fandom, you don't belong"

It was so upsetting because I thought everyone would be nice to me. I've been in this fandom for 2 years now. Most of the time I would watch queen interviews, listen to queen songs, and read fanfics. And then I decided to go to Tumblr and join people who are queen fans and to find some friends (since I don't know anyone in my life who is a queen fan). And then it became toxic

Most of my mutuals are not even queen fans... NOT EVEN ROCK N ROLL FANS!

This just means I don't belong here, I really don't.

Don't get me wrong! I love Queen! But the fandom....

So far it's just unwelcoming and Everytime I try to do something related to queen, I get lots of hate. Yes, some of you have been longer queen fans than me, but that doesn't mean you should be mothering me about the fandom.

So I'm in a new fandom actually (not a music one), and they've been so so kind and warm welcoming to me, teaching me everything I need to know!

But that doesn't mean I'm not a queen fan, I'm just taking a break from it. I'm not gonna waste my time doing shit so others can be happy, I wanna be happy. I wanna post what I want to post. But then if this is the drill...I'm out guys.

Thank you too all my mutuals who constantly text me, and always being there for me and giving me kindness (which is kinda rare for me to get)

Things have not been easy, I've spent Christmas alone... literally (and still get hate the next day)

Not saying I'm not a queen fan anymore, just taking a break from the fandom.

Queen fandom before the internet

I was searching for something else and came across this lovely post about someone’s memories of being a Queen fan in the 70s - the interesting thing to me is that they were doing so many of the things we do online - creating fan art, accumulating photos and facts (this guy spent hours creating his own biographies of the band as handwritten books)... the only difference being no opportunity to do what happens so much online, feeding off each other’s interest and energy - and, notably, humour...

I haven’t been active all day but today marks 30 years since one of the most flamboyant, talented, amazing singers died. Even though Freddie did die in the 90s, he still impacts loads of people in the younger generation. He taught people to be themselves even though your going to get hate. And if they do hate, tell them to fuck off because being you is the best person you can be. He cross dressed and practically have a big fuck you to gender norms. He was caring and the best version he could be for himself, he had fun, loads of it and never regretted a second.

He was a amazing band member, lover and friend. He was a cat lover and was an amazing cat father to his ten cats. He’s a influencer to many, some are celebrities such as Lady Gaga and some are just average people such as you and I. He is the perfect example of knowing what he wanted to be in life and achieved it successfully. He was and is one of the most memorable and amazing front singers out there and I feel honored to be one of his fans.

Rest in paradise you most beautiful soul, keep shining bright as the day you left this world behind 30 years ago.

Okay very random (TW: mentions ab*se) but I love how the fandom picked together who roger was talking about when he said he suffered domestic ab*se through a interview, a song and paying attention to his family relationships.

Like yeah it’s depressing on what the fandom pointed out but it’s kinda cool that a fandom piece something together with not much material on Roger’s childhood. And now ppl r making biographies and the fandom is getting more intel on his childhood and it pushes it closer to what they thought. Bc it’s to the point most of the fandom believes it’s a fact, and the fact I’m talking abt is a “fact” even tho it’s a research-backend-opinion that needs clarification to make it an actual fact. 

Also don’t mind this post, I’m researching on Roger’s dad bc I remember the waves of this popping up and it got connected to his bad car accident thats gonna briefly be in my book (it makes sense when u read the scene lol)
