okay okay so now lets get to the post i was gonna do before those animal talismans. talking about the renlings and the prodigious
now renlings and the prodigious aren't very well received when i see talk of them in the fandom(i don't see allot of talk about them anyway) but i like them. there's a very specific part of it that confuses me but well get there when we get there. for now, let me explain what the prodigious even is
the prodigious is a magic medallion that's a prototype to the miraculous(being abandoned for the existence of the miraculous) the one who holds the prodigious is called the renren and is able to use the power of the 8 renlings bound to the prodigious.
the renlings are a sort of cousin to the kwamis of the miraculous. only in this case these guys are connected to human values like justice and paitence as opposed to abstract concepts like adoration or perfection. if you want to be turned into the animal representing them you need there value.
like i said we have 8 in total apparently, they also are connected to the 8 elements of bagua according to things in the show
snake is fire
bear is earth and value is calmness
eagle is lake and value is confidence
mantis is thunder and value is patience
dragon is water and value is justice
horse is mountain and value is honor
tiger is heaven and value is discipline
monkey is wind and value is compassion
out of these 8 only the mantis is without a kwami cousin that counterparts them.
according to the wiki for renlings they seem to correspond to animals that appear in southern martial arts
and that's all well and good but theres one very odd thing about these guys... according to one of the kwamis the prodigious was too power and considered too dangerous and therefore was locked away... but we see nothing about the prodigious that makes it more dangerous then the insane powers of even just the main heroes miraculous or the main villains. to be fair we dont get to see much of these guys so maybe theres more then meets the eye but so far the powers we got are
full animal form
partial animal form (shown by a person in the past)
and the dragon being the only one to exhibit actual supernatural powers.
i hope we get some series or explanation on these guys cause they do interest me. and we have quite a few more animal with martial arts styles they could use if they want to keep doing that

@brightlotusmoon maybe you'll get a kick out of this since i had that phase of doing a bunch of renling stuff. tried to make special weapons for them too since i wanted to do the whole 'they were too dangerous' thing and all that
