Aye Nako - "The Rind"
"You're more than loosely on my mind, I mean you've peeled away the rind"
today i am studying and trying to bust out of my own sad brain.
this will include listening to new things, going to a play i haven't seen, and hopefully going running.
The Rind - Raindance Film Festival
The Rind is an unusual film from Uruguay. Pedro works as a graphic designer in an advertising agency and doesn’t much understand the process he is part of until his senior colleague dies suddenly and he’s hastily promoted into his position. Struggling to discover an idea for their important and dissatisfied client and with his impatient boss hovering, Pedro desperately begins to infiltrate his dead colleague’s life trying to discover and usurp his ideas to hide his own lack of talent. In the process he comes across people who lead him beyond the boundaries of his experience and understanding and help him open his eyes to finding his own path to inspiration. Watching this film I was enraptured by it’s themes and the easy pace and rhythm of it. The cinematography is lovely, the acting effortless, the score enchanting and though meandering the storyline is never boring or dull. Everything counts even if you aren’t quite sure what it counts for and while ultimately I’d have preferred a more structured screenplay I have to say there wasn’t a moment of this film that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy.
