2. A song that makes your soul ascend
okay. it's a little tacky on its own but with the visuals from the scene in FernGully: The Last Rainforest, which I picture every single time, A Dream Worth Keeping by Sheena Easton. I've never counted but it feels like there are seven key changes. it just keeps rising and swelling and getting more and more dramatic lmao. it was one of the songs we had played at our wedding and we were in the middle of a conversation when it came on and I pulled us away with an apology and dragged fox to the dancefloor, because while I did not particularly have childhood dreams and plans for my wedding the way some people do, I had thought from a very young age that dancing to that song with the person I was marrying would be a hell of a thing. and it was.
12. Rotation of four desert island songs
Les moulins Baptiste by Anne Sylvestre, because it makes me feel very human and very connected to the long stretch of generations of humanity. which I feel would be a good thing to have in a desert island scenario.
She Loves You by the Beatles. listened on repeat as a kid (the whole red album but a couple songs in particular. but also when I listen to a single song that's on that album I can hear the next one in order start in my head as it ends), could never drive me crazy (do not test this. but if I were ever going to test a single song for that I think it would be this one). something about that off beat drum crash that intrigues my ear every time.
Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go) by Garbage. once listened to this song 27 times in a row. for no reason. banger, and includes the bonus of gender fuckery, which is always a joy.
Berceuse pour Julie by Daniel Lavoie. beautiful sweet little lullaby. also the song I walked down the aisle to, if we're bringing my wedding into it again.

The Bare Necessities, as performed by Phil Harris and Bruce Reitherman for the 1967 animated Jungle Book movie. the intonations and everything.
