A last minute submission for the @neathyfashioncoalition Parabolan Elegance prompt!! I'll definitely be revisiting this in the future, but for now, just wanted to get it in dsfafgdhf.

okay time for chittering
all four of their outfits are based off of a different region of parabola! the reflection's was inspired by the mirror-marches, harper's by the parabolan base camp, isabelle's by the waswood, and peregrine's by the viric jungle!
those are honey vials on harper's belt :]
isabelle's flowers all have meanings - a cream rose for thoughtfulness and charm, hydrangeas were often given in response to a romantic rejection, and yellow carnations meant rejection themselves. yellow carnations are also a theme for her in general, to the point where they've become a shorthand for her presence in multiple of the fics i've written!
florence has a parabolan form! weaselpillar!! slightly bigger than she is in the Is, and with so many more legs for so much more mischief.
peregrine's outfit contains references to three major types of creature encountered in the viric jungle: a silver snakelike armband for the fingerkings, grey feathers on the tailcoat for the storm bird, and the upper lapels are actually cat paws/claws! the brooch at their throat is a beetle in amber, which is also a nod to the vast amounts of flora and fauna there.
the fingerking is loosely based on a green variety of hognose snake!
the reflection's coat mirrors would always face flat towards the viewer if it turned. obviously this is a still image so i can't exactly get that across but it's important to me that you know this
speaking of coat mirrors, every mirror is one that harper would be able to draw a card for in the mirror-marches! from left to right, up to down, we have (a glimpse of) amber, a clock, silver, a tavern, a king, the sea, a cat, a devil's tea-time, a church, and a kiss.
the kiss one specifically is the revolutionaries renown one, and guess who's a revolutionary tied to parabola that harper could even theoretically kiss? one who even has mirrors leading straight to his hotel? manager time, babey!!!
the buttons on its coat also represent most of the alters not present. a violet (modesty) for violet, a daffodil (regard) for eleanor, and a zinnia (absence) for ___. only one missing/hidden is oscar, who incidentally is the only one not to have fronted in the neath yet.
all the shoes were carefully considered, with harper and peregrine leaning more edwardian in style while isabelle and the reflection stay firmly in the victorian era!
also wines is hiding in the glimpse of amber frame since it can be found in mrs. plenty's and the card mentions a figure rustling in the shadows >:}

people occasionally dig up miku binder freud from the depths of my blog that obviously have no idea about the context of schlomo fallen london or any of my wacky bullshit about the fictionalized version of a real life psychologist who had some buckwild ideas about sex and attraction on top of the whole psychoanalytical theory thing. they assume i'm just real weird about the real life psychologist.
half-joking but I think the masters should get to play with their pronouns. like. not in the binary or otherwise human way though. i think they'd have fun getting *weird* with it. wines eschewing its usual pronouns at certain parties and telling people to refer to it in humming and wordless tones, quite literally music to its ears as it is spoken about. fires going by sharp clicks, like the sounds of the machinery in its factories. iron in something between a hiss and an exhale, a steam engine's wheeze, an echo of its own silent nature. hearts listening in on those it favors, listening to the dull and doubled thud of a loose fist over a chest, and deciding it *likes* the idea of being referred to so viscerally, as if within the speaker's own heartbeat.
i don't think it would be right for all of them, necessarily, but i think it's a *fascinating* thing to chew on at least

I have a little headcanon now that for the old immortals/semi-immortals of the Neath, birthdays can get kinda uhh... Vibes based. If they're remembered at all.
