#the second adam

i know this is mainly me just screaming into the void but ive genuinely looked everywhere else so this is my last resort (suffocation no breathing).

does anyone else know the title of this. is might be a short story? or a fragment of a novel. anyway it's from the perspective of some strange, humanoid being, that was modified? i think? into like a "better version" of a human. more limbs, more intelligent. the story begins with it in a cage, covered by a piece of material separating it from the outside world, while it grows more and more "aware" of its body. it hears the voice of its creator hype it up (the two of them are on an exposition of some sort, with it as the attraction), he talks about what a big advancement it is and how wondrous his creation is.

he uncovers the cage and the audience is amazed. happy at the attention, the being starts "showing off", like turning around to present itself, getting more and more happy cheers with each of its actions. someone from the audience asks the creator what he's going to name the being, and several different suggestions are given, but the creator says he already has a name: the new adam (or it might've been the second adam?) and everyone applauds his intelligence

please. ive looked everywhere this story has (positively) haunted me for years. i love it. i cant find it. theres a book called "the new adam" but im almost sure thats not it? not 100% certain though. anyway. if anyone has any leads id be SO grateful

Embrace

In his book ‘Worship, Community and the Triune God of Grace’, James Torrance tells of a story his friend and college, Roland Walls, had told him. One day, approaching Roland’s front door, he noticed in Roland’s garden a piece of sculpture he had not seen before. Asking Roland what the sculpture signified, Roland went on to tell him about a young sculptor who had been brought up among an Exclusive Brethren community. One day, this sculpture had confessed to the fellowship that he was gay. As a result, he was asked to leave the Assembly. In his distress, he found his way to the Roslin Community, where Roland found him on his knees in prayer in the chapel. The young man poured out his story and unburdened his heart. At the end of their conversation, Roland simply put his arms around him and gave him a hug! That hug symbolized everything for the man. He knew he was loved, accepted, forgiven. He went back, found a block of sandstone and carved out a figure of the two Adams. They are kneeling, embracing one another. Christ lays his head on the right shoulder of fallen Adam, and fallen Adam lays his head on the right shoulder of Christ the second Adam. The only way in which one can distinguish between the two Adams, is by the nail prints in the hands of Christ. That sculptor saw himself in fallen Adam, and in that symbolic hug he saw himself accepted in Christ, the second Adam.
