Do developers get a head start to buy new consoles when they release them?

Not often in my experience. I've only ever had the chance to buy a console early once and that was a special dispensation from Nintendo to buy a Wii (at a discount) from them directly as thanks for being a developer on a launch title. Even then, production shortages meant that not everyone was able to get theirs in the first shipment. The rest of the time, I've had to buy new game consoles the same way everybody else does. On a related note, one of the publishers I worked for had a standing policy to pay $100 towards any new game console employees bought, but they still had to be purchased retail.

What are some "dangerous" kinds of questions you just can't answer even under anonymity? Obviously sensitive specifics that should get anyone fired for basically leaking. But are there topics we suggest that seem more general than they really are you have had to avoid? Things that if in the horrible event you are outted would be a problem?

What’s your opinion on theories that all is not well when it comes to OT4 and the band is effectively broken up

I don’t know what people are specifically theorising.  And I also don’t know what expectations people have - what would ‘all being well’ between Harry, Liam, Niall and Louis look like?

I think their relationships are likely to be really messy.  They share a very important past, they’re tied together in people’s minds in a way that means that they can make a different to each others lives. But (Harry and Louis excepted - if I’m right about their relationship) they’re not the most important people in each others’ lives any more.  And there are so many reasons relationships between any two of them, or the group, could be difficult at any time.

As for the idea that the band is effectively broken up - I don’t really know what people think that means.  The only difference between an inactive band and a broken up band is the label that the people involved in the band choose to put on it.  

And the way people choose to present themselves matters, but it’s also temporary.  Lots of bands have broken up and got back together, other bands have been inactive for ages - and never done anything together again.
