Whats a random headcanon of yours for The Squid Who Shan't Be Named you wanna share? (≡^∇^≡)

ok i have a cool one actually!

usually when i draw him, i give him black nails

like that!

they're not actually painted, that's just what they look like. squid have beaks rather than mouths, and these beaks are usually black

obviously mckraken doesn't have a beak as he is now, but his nails match the color of what it would hypothetically look like since they're made of the same sort of material

i just thought that was pretty cool :-)

i do wish that mckraken and dame dedtime/deartime canonically interacted more. like they have a shared boss mission in blasters, and then they interact for like 2 minutes at the end of the sukiyaki quest in ykw3, but that's kind of all they get

and i think that's a shame because they could have had a really interesting dynamic

by the events of ykw3, deartime's let go of the past and all that, but it seems like mckraken's still holding some sort of grudge and i think she would have been able to help with that

idk. honestly there are lots of characters i wish mckraken interacted with in canon, since he kind of never interacts with anyone but the player character, but those two specifically were on my mind today

today's squid is a little complicated but i promise he's relevant to the concept of 'daily squid'

it's some lore that i haven't gotten into yet really but i have this whole story where mckraken was originally more of a 'typical' yokai, but he went out of his way to meet Certain Conditions and evolve into what he is now it's long so i won't go too far into it here, but the short version is that this is a pre-evo mckraken. i call him kalamarity :-)

today's squid comes in the form of a medal concept fun fact, this is actually something i made for a yokai watch fan project i'm on [ on twitter unfortunately :-( ], where i'm pretty much The McKraken Guy to the point where the rest of the team also calls me mckraken i think it's pretty funny anyways that's why my mckraken sketches occasionally have that colored-in patch under the beard, he has a different outfit

maybe i'll share more of my stuff for the project here in future, since there isn't an official tumblr blog for it

some neat headcanons to accompany today's squid [ he's fine probably, give him a minute to cool off ]:

following the events of ykw1, his eyes kind of just Do That sometimes. it's a leftover thing from his transformation

his weird shadow marking thing(?) tends to start sort of. dripping when he gets agitated. nobody knows what's up with that, and nobody really wants to approach him to ask

this is pretty much entirely unrelated to the drawing but i like to think that those gems on the sides of his hat emote like little eyes. i just think that would be funny
