The Rogues - It’s the Same All Over the World (1965)

The Rogues were a Connecticut garage band who released their debut 45 before changing their name to the Squires and releasing the incredible Going All the Way single.  After lead singer Mike Bouyea was drafted and sent to Vietnam, the band was no more.

I’ll admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of Neil Percival Young, (born November 12, 1945) he is a singer-songwriter, producer, and filmmaker. il was maybe in my late twenties when I really started listening to him Young, was originally a member of the band Buffalo Springfield. After he moved to Los Angels from his hometown of Toronto, Canada he released two solo albums with his backing band Crazy Horse In 1969, he joined Crosby, Stills, Nash and they changed their name to Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. Despite being in several bands Young is mostly known for his solo work, his guitar skills, and deeply personal lyrics are paired with his signature tenor singing voice Young frequently combines folk, rock, and country in his music. Over the course of his, career Young has received several Juno and Grammys. In 1995, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a solo musician. And again with Buffalo Springfield In 1997. Young has worked with various artists throughout his career. Outside of music Young has directed(or co-directed) films under the name Bernard Shakey. Young has done charitable work here in the States and Canada. Some call him has the “ Godfather of Grunge”. I guess because of his sound and his “ despondent” songwriting. I did realize he was so humorous and down to earth until I saw him to a bit with Jimmy Fallon on his show. Neil Young is one of the artists I had to go back and listen to really appreciate and respect his music. Young continues to make music and inspires musicians.

Neil Young Leads Online Tour of His Archives; New Album and Free Webcast Also on Tap Today

It’s a big day for Neil Young and his fans.

He released a new LP, The Visitor, with Promise of the Real; he’ll perform a live webcast tonight from his hometown of Omemee, Ontario, at 8 Eastern on CTV.ca and Facebook; and - most exciting for long-time fans - Young opened up his online archives, where every song he ever recorded is available for free.

To celebrate the opening - and to help fans navigate what he’s calling NYA - Young’s created a 10-minute, online tutorial to walk fans through the massive catalog of his life’s work at neilyoungarchives.com.

”We developed this site ... to provide fans and music historians with unprecedented access to all of my music and to my entire archives in one convenient location,” Young said on Facebook.

”My team and I have spent years developing this site to make it both enjoyable and easy to use. The site allows me to share with the world the material I’ve spent a lifetime creating and collecting.”

During the virtual tour, Young cues up “The Sultan,” his 1963 song with The Squires, and demonstrates how to best navigate the website by pulling up every version of “Heart of Gold” and all the albums it’s appeared on over the years.

”This is how you get around,” Young says in concluding his tour. “So you just go around this whole thing and don’t forget to have a good time.

”And try not to get lost.”
