What happened to Burrowsand after his group died? Did he join another?
No, absolutely not, he was never going to trust anyone ever again enough to even consider it.
After he poisoned his group (which was probably 4-6 cats tops), he just headed in a straight direction away.
That direction happened to be The Torrid, where he would make his home in the desert mountains similarly to the Gaping Maws Family, only on the complete opposite end of the map.*
He makes his home there for a few reasons:
-It’s secluded
-The caves within the mountains provides shelter from the heat
-It’s a maze that, though was tough for him at first and took a long time to fully remember, would keep him safe from potential intruders (he knows where to go, they don’t)

It’s mostly dark but he does get occasional light from mushrooms here and there. Some places, they grow in the water which makes the whole pool/puddle glow, providing more light!

*In my mind’s eye, the mountains in the Dark Forest stretch endlessly. It feels odd to think that there are “borders” within an afterlife, so in this case once you get to a certain point, you only see the same thing. You keep walking, keep climbing, but over and over you come across the same of the last mountains on repeat, and that’s what the Dark Forest borders are like.
I haven’t decided yet though if there’s mountains all around, just different types based on the environment, or if they’re just in certain places and other places have different natural environments that act strangely when you go too far in them.
