Little Steven is still giving top rock shows on the Underground Garage, a radio revolution he created because no one else was playing “the coolest music and the coolest culture.” He handpicks every track, from Chuck Berry to the Ramones to bands you haven’t heard of yet, and treats it all like sacred text.
“Nobody wanted the show at first,” he told me. “Now we’ve introduced over a thousand new bands.” He also had a few things to say about Rand, McConnell, and counting songs in an E Street setlist (“If you're measuring the show by the number of songs, you're not listening”)
