Title: Straight, No Chaser Band/Artist: The Wingtips Personnel: Ian Kenning, trumpet; Shawn Neary, bass; Brian Boesen, drums; Erin Alberty, keyboards; John Huston, guitar Recorded: Aug. 15, 1998 at Mind's Ear Studios in Bloomfield, Ia. Fun fact: One summer during college, some friends assembled a jazz group and we won a "Battle of the Bands" competition (in spite of my clearly non-jazzlike guitar playing). Top prize was a couple hours in the recording studio to record a single for play on the local radio station. We sweet-talked a six-song EP out of the recording engineer, promising that we'd play our songs extra-fast, like this incredibly speedy Thelonious Monk tune.
