As the lead singer of Devo Mark Allen Mothersbaugh (born May 18, 1950) wears a number of hats he wears that read cone one a for Devo’s many tasks. He wears one for composing music for various television shows films and video games. While wearing composer hat he wrote the music for the popular Nick Toon Rugrats and worked closely with filmmaker Wes Anderson overseeing the music and composing the scores for a few of his films. He wore a special hat during his solo career, he released four albums. He received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Kent State University. Outside of music Mothersbaugh has an interest in creating multimedia. His work was shown in a gallery exhibition called “Beautiful Mutants, " a photograph series of postcards diaries, art rugs, sculptures, and musical instruments. I started listening to Devo in high school, not because of their song,“ Whip It” but, because I heard another song at a party. I picked up on their best-of albums and listened to them repeatedly. Devo was always on the back burner of bands I was into. I still listened to them they just weren’t in heavy rotation. With a career lasting over 40 years, you probably heard or seen some of his work. He still Is creating music and art for all to enjoy.
