I'm so fucking pissed that our country (United States)'s government hasn't actually come up with a plan to keep people safe and secure at home while we figure out how to actually beat this pandemic (to say nothing of equity of access to the vaccine). Free vaccines are great but leaving each individual private institution to *guess* what are adequate covid precautions while the profit machine chugs on (and that's not even counting the institutions that are acting in bad faith) is insidious. My institution is going back to in-person this fall and they're at least mandating masks and distancing but I feel like there's going to be the inevitable point when delta ramps up and we'll have to go back to online anyway so it just seems haphazard to put in all this work for an experience that's "back to normal" but not really and might just put more folks at risk

Ugh I know I’ll be fine and I’ve gotten a lot better at this even in the past 3 years or so but why does expressing valid discomfort to a partner still sometimes feel internally like screaming crying throwing up

Ok I think everyone should be allowed to have one thing where it’s like “I fully acknowledge I’m being a poor sport about this and that my opinion shouldn’t be taken seriously, but I still can’t Get With The Times”.

Mine is that I cannot stand the new blue/green mlm flag.

I get that it was made to replace an even more blue mlm flag, but to me they both read “blue is for boys,” and that feels stereotypical to me.

Also, while I have nothing but love and respect for my queer friends on Tumblr, the fact that both flags were made online and mostly (afaik) existed in online spaces bothers me. Whereas the Gilbert Baker Pride flag and its derivatives emerge from grassroots, on the ground activism.

I think the variations on the Progress Pride flag solve the problem of having a communal banner that’s not limited to a symbol for gay men, a problem which I acknowledge is important.

My ideal would be that we use the progress pride as a common rallying ground, and keep the Gilbert Baker rainbow flag for gay men and anyone else who finds it meaningful. I’m not going to gatekeep who finds these colors resonant. I just don’t appreciate being siloed into a symbol and color palette that feels disjointed from the history of my gay ancestors
