I don't think I can understand the backlash with the casting in Sandman and Percy Jackson. In both cases, Neil Gaiman and Rick Riordan were personally involved with the creation of the show.

This means that the ones who CREATED the source materials chose the actors who could play THEIR characters.

If the CREATOR can put aside the fact that, in order to get the best actor possible for a role, they don't have to necessarily cast someone who looks like the character, why shouldn't you be fine with that?

Why does it have to be controversial that someone would want to adapt their story with the best actors possible?

This can also double as a science fiction point, but I was wondering: since Earth's surface is 70% covered by water, would a hypothetical extraterrestrial being assume that whatever intelligent species exists here, it would live in the oceans?

They would probably think "there's no way they wouldn't be able to live in the majority of their planet". Or, maybe, they'd think we are amphibians.

Speaking about the backlash with Annabeth's actress, I just had a conversation where I commented on how the show is supervised by Rick Riordan himself, meaning that the author himself is making creative changes and tweaks to his own work.

As I said that, someone commented on me something on the line of "how can you be sure that this is not just the studio trying to push its agenda?".

I mean, I find it rather weird how, to someone, "Rick Riordan chose the cast based on their acting abilities, and not based on how the characters look in the books" is LESS believable than "the studio wants to push an agenda".

In this story, set a million years from now, You have to deal with an immortal being who is so old that their lifespan is beyond their comprehension. You start investigating about their origin, wondering what could have possibly generated such a powerful creature.

After lots of research, You are finally able to track down an important relic from a distant place, coming from a faraway planet, Earth. It's a very old computer, and, by looking at it, you find out that this insanely powerful being used to be a schoolgirl from the early XXI century.

Is it me, or, whenever there's a comic or a video or a joke about your 30s, 9 times out of 10 the punchline is "your body hurts"?

It's so strange, as if, until you're 29, everything is about discovering yourself, having new experiences, being young and so on, then you turn 30 and all that matters is "your back hurts".

Does anybody else find it weird when you still occasionally find a "still a better love story than Twilight" comment somewhere?

Like, the Twilight craze was about 15 years ago, and there hasn't been a Twilight movie in 10 years. Even Robert Pattinson, who hated starring in those movies, has stopped talking about them and moved on since it's been too long since then.

Nowadays, I bet there would be people who wouldn't react by thinking "hell yeah, you're right", but by wondering "what the hell is Twilight?".

Thinking about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, I was wondering something. You know how there could be movies, books, TV shows and other media set in the Victorian Era, but they either get historical facts wrong or mix them together? (For instance, they showcase an event occurred rather early in Queen Victoria's reign, but they still depict her as she was when she was old)

Can you imagine, in the future, similar things with depictions of Elizabeth II's reign? Anachronisms like:

Implying that she became Queen right after World War II

Showing Margaret Thatcher as still being the Prime Minister when Hong Kong returned to China

Even Pop Cultural things like the Beatles still being together well into the 1970s and 1980s

There could be many more thngs, but I wonder how will "cultural osmosis" affect her reign in the future, mixing up events that, in reality, where separated by decades.

Apparently, The Flash will air its final season next year. This means that the Arrowverse, or at least its main universe (Earth Prime) is about to end.

The franchise has been such a huge part of superhero media outside of comics, being what tied together multiple projects made by DC and helping to establish a gigantic, cohesive multiverse, in which DC still thrives by releasing many movies and TV shows.

Technically, the franchise as a whole is not going to finish, because there are still shows set in its alternate earths, like Stargirl and Superman & Lois. However, all the things that happened in the universe that first appeared on Arrow will come to a close next year.

If we strictly count the live action TV shows set in the main universe, then we are talking about the following shows:

Arrow (2012-2020) 170 Episodes

Constantine (2014-2015) 13 Episodes [it wasn't originally part of the franchise, but got incorporated]

The Flash (2014-2023) 184 Episodes [including the 13 episodes of the final season]

Supergirl (2015-2021) 126 Episodes [set on its own Earth until 2020, then joined Earth Prime]

Legends of Tomorrow (2016-2022) 110 Episodes

Black Lightning (2018-2021) 58 Episodes [like Supergirl, it was set on its own Earth until 2020]

Batwoman (2019-2022) 51 Episodes

Apart from the fact that I admit feels weird to see those shows with the year of their ending written down, when they weere all airing together for a long time, this means that 699 episodes have aired so far, and that the final season premiere of The Flash will be the 700th.

Hopefully, they are going to end with a bang, because they deserve it. A TV franchise, which united multiple shows across multiple networks for more than a decade must end in a proper way.
