Okay so remember my Voltron Lion Takeover post? Yeah, I lied. I brought my ipad with me and since we only had one parks day, I had a LOT of time to just chill in the hotel room, meaning drawing time. So I ended up drawing the burn marks anyways. I imagine the whole fiasco going something like this:
Lance woke up to the blue walls of the pod, blurry vision, and an ache throughout his body. He collapsed forward into Hunk’s waiting arms, knees weak. There were cries of surprise, concern, and reprimand around him, but Lance heard none of it, instead focused on the arms supporting him and the itchy feeling that was starting to spread up his arms and legs. Once he had cleared his head and vision, he gave Hunk a pointed look, hoping his best friend would get the message and shut everyone up.
“Um, guys, I think Lance would like some food and quiet before we bombard him with questions.”
The commotion died at Hunk’s announcement. Carefully, Hunk and Allura led Lance to the dining hall, setting a bowl of food goo at his place. Lance ate in silence while Hunk and Allura chatted quietly next to him, catching him up to speed on what had happened while he was in the pod. The itching had since gone away by the time Lance had finished his food. Lance was about to go change into his regular clothes from the pod suit when Allura called to him.
“Lance, before you go change, there is something you should be aware of.”
Lance paused and turned back around to Allura with a questioning look, waiting for her to continue.
“Whatever happened back there, it left some… permanent scarring. I know not how they came to be but Pidge, Coran, and I are looking into it.”
With a hesitant nod and a frown, Lance went to his room. Peeling off the pod suit, he gasped at the patterns now etched into his skin. Geometric veins and circled ends filled his arms, legs, and torso, reaching all the way to his neck and ending at his nape hairline. They were everywhere. And permanent.
Tracing the lines with his hand, Lance could feel himself tearing up. It was one thing to be mentally changed from a war away from home, but to have such a large reminder burned onto his skin? To be altered in such a big way? It stung more than any homesickness ever would. At least he hadn’t lost a limb like Shiro had. Lance doesn’t think he’d be able to handle losing an arm or leg, losing a piece of himself like that. Looking into his bathroom mirror, he breathed out in relief at finding no marks on his face. That would have been a real heartbreaker.
With a heavy sigh, Lance shrugged on his usual attire and headed back to the bridge for a full rundown of what happened, and to maybe share his side of the mission report. The others were already there awaiting his arrival. Upon seeing Lance, Pidge hopped up and ran over, tackling him in a hug then slapping his shoulder.
“You idiot! What the quiznak were you thinking? Taking on a Galra commander alone? With your broadsword? Were you trying to die?”
Lance put his hands on her shoulders, looking her in the eye. “I wasn’t trying to die, Pidge. I was trying to protect Allura. She was down and I was stuck with close-range fighting. I’m sorry I scared you all, but I won’t apologize for what I did. Which, by the way, what exactly happened? One minute I’m fighting the dual sworded guy, the next I’m waking up in a pod. And what’s up with the scars?”
There was a silence amongst the group before Allura spoke up.
“While I was down for a while, I was awake when you brought me back to the castle in Red. You… you did not look entirely yourself. You had this red and blue cast to your hair, with solid yellow eyes and fangs. It was strange. And your armor, well, you can see for yourself.”
Pidge butted in at Allura’s pause. “When I found the surveillance video, per Coran’s request, your armor was solid black with star-like dots in the coloured sections. And you were fighting strangely. Like, been a solider for 20 plus years strange. And your bayard…”
There were nervous glances passed between the crew, all avoiding Lance’s gaze. It was irritating.
“And what about my bayard?”
There was an awkward pause before Shiro broke it.
“You were switching bayard forms with a fluency none of us have ever seen, as well as using forms you’ve never had, including our forms.”
Oh, so it was way more than just some weird scarring. Lance had done the impossible, and woke up with no memory of it. Not to mention the eye thing sounded like possession. The security feed must have freaked them out quite a bit. Lance could only hope Lotor was kept out of this.
"Does Lotor know?"
Allura spoke immediately. "No. We decided to keep him out of the know for this. While we trust him not to do anything currently with the information, we do not trust that he may use it if he betrays us."
That put Lance at a little more ease. At least prince L'oréal didn't know of his sudden mastery of being a paladin. But there were still questions to be answered.
"What forms did my bayard take?"
Hunk decided to answer this time.
"You had your regular blaster, your sniper rifle, broadsword, our bayard forms like Pidge's katar and Allura's whip, and completely new forms. Dual pistols, dual smaller swords, a lance, and a shield. It was really weird, but impressive."
That was far too many bayard forms for Lance. He was the weak link, a seventh wheel, not a proficient fighter like Zarkon, who could use multiple bayard forms. So why had he? He would have to look at the footage later, as he still needed to know about the scars.
"And the burns? Any working theory on those?"
Shiro looked alarmed at Lance's words, opening his mouth to say something before Allura cut in.
"Pidge claims they are like lichtenberg scars, but their shape and flow remind me of quintessence veins, both of which should be impossible given the footage we have. You were not struck by electricity again, and you would have to have been overflowed with quintessence for those veins to appear. It is quite a concerning conundrum."
With a gasp of surprise, Pidge turned to Allura.
"What do you mean /struck by electricity again/?!"
Shiro nodded at Pidge's question. Coran looked horrified. Hunk kept looking between Allura and Lance for an explanation. Lance decided this wasn't needed right now.
"I was hit at the Omega Shield and Allura healed me. All good now. Can I see the footage? I want to see what happened for myself."
So
I went wayyyy further with that than intended and wow I really hate how nonchalant everyone was with Lance's death but ANYWAYS here you guys go. What happens when you get possessed by a lion of Voltron? You get an overdose of quintessence and trauma. Hooray!
This can also double as a science fiction point, but I was wondering: since Earth's surface is 70% covered by water, would a hypothetical extraterrestrial being assume that whatever intelligent species exists here, it would live in the oceans?
They would probably think "there's no way they wouldn't be able to live in the majority of their planet". Or, maybe, they'd think we are amphibians.
I had a very sudden thought of Desmond running from Ezio and Altaïr (they’re chasing him for answers. You know, the usual time teleporting shit) and he manages to make it to the top of a tower that doesn’t have a jump point on it.
Ezio and Altaïr seem victorious with the end of the chase so near, both of them smirking as they look at the strange hooded figure in front of them.
Desmond sighs softly to himself. He really didn’t want to have to do this but he guesses he’ll have to if he wants to get out of this. He watches as his ancestors draw nearer, both of them moving slowly as they watch for any sudden movements.
Desmond allows them to get a meter away before he smirks at them, spreading his arms out and falling right off the edge of the tower.
Both mentors feel their hearts jump to their throats, rushing over to the edge to watch as the mystery man falls to the floor below. Right as looks as if he’s about to hit the floor something unfurls from his back, catching the wind and letting him swoop up and away from the ground.
Desmond can’t help the giddy laughter that escapes him when he feels the wind rushing through his feathers and hair, breathless with the rush of adrenaline that courses through him as he comes back up to hover in front of his ancestors. The looks on their faces are well worth the chase they made him go through.
The wings are brown with golden flecked tips, reminiscent of an eagle as they flare and flap behind the stranger to keep him steady. Surprisingly the hood had stayed put - the rest of cloak flaring out around him as his wings kick up the wind - only allowing them to see the way the man gives them a pleased smirk and nod of the head before he takes off. If it wasn’t so mesmerising and slightly impressive the two mentor’s would have felt miffed with the obvious snub.
Like from that quest from the researches. One is over the gerudo fairy. one near where dinrael spawns in eldinOne in that ice cave. whatcha think of that ha?
I have no logical clue what this ask was about when you got it Kip, but I thought the best way to answer is to make it into something completely new just for you.
I decided to make it into a prompt:
Once again they found themselves in Wild’s Hyrule but this time they were dropped in the perfect spot! They had landed just outside of Hateno village and Wild was going to make it a point to show them around.
Wild practically skipped in delight as they got closer to the little town. When the group passed under the arches of town Wild made it a point to show them around. He showed off his house that he bought during his adventure first and with the help of the village children the eight other heroes were shown all around the small town.
After a lazy afternoon of exploring the nine heroes sat around the tree outside of Wild’s house and listened to the kids babble on about nothing and everything. The day was sunny and bright and Wild was happy to see his brother’s soaking up the sunshine in one of his favorite places. He was not sure how the kids had gotten on to the topic of the leviathan bones, but it was clear that the bones had been the talk of the town as of late.
“Like from that quest Link did from the researches!” One of the little girls chirped happily as she bit into one of the baked apples Wild had made for them. The other children nodded excitedly and Wild could tell the heroes were all ears.
“Yeah, yeah! There’s one set of bones uhhh…” the little girl started but it was clear she was having trouble with the details.
“One is over the Gerudo fairy,” the little boy with glasses chimed in helpfully and the girl nodded excitedly.
“Yeah! One near where Dinrael spawns in Eldin, Oh and one in that ice cave!” She continued happily showing off her missing two front teeth in a wide grin.
“Spawns!?!” Legend choked out in shock at the word.
“She means where the dragon appears,” the little boy with glasses jumped in quickly. Wars thumped Legend on the back as he began to cough violently, apparently choking on a small bit of apple the had in his mouth when he made the exclamation. The boy flushed at the display and began to explain.
“She, uh overheard the adults talking about salmon and their life cycle,” He began sheepishly before continuing “she has been using that word ever since,” he finished lamely. The girl beamed and the other heroes had to hide their snickering behind their hands.
“whatcha think of that ha?” She asked then and Sky smiled down at her.
“I think that’s really interesting; do they know where the bones came from?” He asked and the girl shrugged, clearly losing interest in the subject.
“Well, I heard a rumor that the leviathans were once considered Gods. But that doesn’t really make sense to me,” the little boy said as he pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.
“Why is that?” Time asked genuinely curious about the boy’s thought.
“Well, it’s just that, Gods are Gods you know? How can they even die let alone leave anything behind?” The boy said before taking a bite of his apple.
“Oh, Gods can die.” Sky said suddenly and the group at large looked his way. His face was suddenly stoic and serious.
“Just be glad the only thing they left behind this time were bones.” Sky said quietly averting his gaze from the curious group and tossing away the leftovers of his apple, his appetite apparently gone.
Prompt: "Toto, is that really a good idea?" Muta vs. Cucumber. (you should see the cat videos.)
"Since when," he grunts, squishing himself beside Haru, "has any fun idea been good?"
She goes to argue, finds none readily available, and instead fiddles with the camera to make sure it's rolling. Though she doubts this will even work, any reaction from Muta will be worth it.
Toto grins at her silence, but both keep hushed eyes on the portly cat with headphones on. Without them, Muta couple be surprisingly perceptive, and sneaking the cucumber behind him would be impossible. It'd taken Haru a little convincing, but it gave them their window.
Muta continued sorting through the ice box, occasionally popping something into his mouth to munch. Eventually, he nodded to himself, patted a hand to his stomach, and began to close the door.
"Three..." Toto whispered, eyes lazer focused.
Muta stretched, back giving an audible pop.
"Two..." Haru whispered back, flicking between camera and reality.
Muta belched, scratching his back as he seemed to think.
"One..." the pair breathed.
Muta turned around.
At first, he stiffened, staring at the offending vegetable for a few seconds. But he pulled his headphones down, leaning over to get a better look. He straightened back up, but in his relaxed, confused way, and looked around. His eyes met the pair's.
"What's the big idea going on over here?!" He shouted, sweeping a hand at the cucumber. "This is disrespectful to the food!"
Haru sighed, standing up as Toto shuffled back out and straightened.
"Well that was a let down," he bemoaned.
"Muta? What's the ma-"
Haru swivelled (with camera in hand) to watch Baron walk into the room, ears perked. Midstride, his gaze travelled from Muta's face, to hand, to the vegetable on the floor.
His left heel had just barely touched the ground. His fur fluffed exponentially, left toe touching the floor and catapulting him in the air. His body twisted backwards, legs kicking uselessly as he tried to swim away from the vegetable.
A yowl ending with a hiss and some German swears filled the room.
Once Baron took an ugly crash landing on the floor, and the room stilled, did Toto finally speak.
Armitage cocked his head to one side, and pressed a finger to his lips in contemplation. He walked a circle around the fragrant evergreen tree that Kylo had just set into the stand.
“Why are you pacing? This is a perfect tree!” Kylo gestured at it.
“It’s just...not what I expected.” Armitage clarified, starting his circle again. He paused and leaned close, apparently scrutinizing a specific branch. Kylo rolled his eyes.
“Kriff, you said you’d never even celebrated Yule. What DID you expect, having no knowledge of it?”
Armitage shrugs, his hands splayed.
“I don’t know. Alright, I’m off. I have to return those textbooks to the library. Back soon.” Armitage leaned over and planted a gentle kiss on Kylo’s cheek, then scooped up his keys and bookbag before heading out the door.
Kylo stared at the tree, determination settling on his handsome face. Their orange cat twined around his legs over and over, meowing for attention.
“Millie, I am going to make this the COOLEST looking tree ever. I’ll show Armitage how Yule needs to be done.” He reached down and absently scratched the cat’s ears.

Kylo was ready and waiting when Armitage pulled into the driveway. He met him on the porch.
“You gotta close your eyes.”
“What? Why Kylo? Have you burnt our kitchen?” Armitage tried to peer behind Kylo’s sizable shoulders to see into their home.
“No of course not, you lunatic. Geez. Just… close your eyes.” He watched, then waved a hand in front of Armitage’s face, just to be sure.
He took Armitage’s hands in his own, as always noticing how much more delicate Armie’s hands looked.
“Okay, step up that’s the sill…okay, I’ve got you…let me close the door…”
Kylo smiled a little as Armitage twitched his mouth into a tiny shape of annoyance. He hated not being in charge, and to not see on top of it…Kylo smiled as he flicked off the overhead lights.
“Just a minute more.. ok, take like, two or three steps forward. OOH STOP. Yeah, two is enough.” Kylo placed his hands on Armitage’s shoulders, and turned him slightly so he was facing the tree. He then stepped beside him, so he could watch his face.
“Ok. Open your eyes.”
Armitage parted his lips soundlessly, as his eyes widened. He took a tiny step forward, his hand lifting as if to touch.
“Kylo…it’s… magical.”
Their tree stood adorned with hundreds of tiny colorful lights, a veritable rainbow of color running throughout. The lights reflected back off a variety of glass spheres and icicle shapes, making it appear to twinkle. At the top, a big star glowed a bright white, like a beacon. Beneath the tree was a soft red velvet drape, with white trim. Millicent was snoozing on the drape, the lights dappling her in colors.
Armitage turned to Kylo, surprise and joy on his face.
“You were so so right, love. This IS the perfect tree.”
