"Why don't you speak?"
The most response Chell would give GLaDOS's question was a slight shrug. She knew full well why she didn't speak, but she wasn't going to break her silence to answer that question. She looked down at the floor but then glanced back up indirectly, not wanting to take her eyes off GLaDOS. She didn't trust her or this situation at all.
"You aren't the brightest bulb in the Aperture Science's bulb section, are you?"
He glares at the AI. "I manage the Relaxation Centre, I'm fairly smart."
"It's been a long time."
Chell heard GLaDOS's low, feminine tone and swallowed hard before she turned around to face her. She hadn't expected to ever hear that voice again. She gave herself a moment to stare down in front of herself before she turned to look for the white robot head. She couldn't even be sure GLaDOS wasn't just watching her again from some remote location.
After gathering her nerve, she didn't show any trace of the chill that had run up her spine as she cast her gaze around, searching for the origin of the voice. She still didn't speak one word to the machine that had been her captor for so long.
