Elisabeth Hasselbeck On Returning To ‘The View’
Former “View” host Elisabeth Hasselbeck hung out with Rachael Ray where she explained that she has no interest on returning to her former show. “I’ve done my time,” said the “Fox and Friends” host. Elisabeth was still grateful for her time there, though, “I was thankful to have the decade that I did.”
Raven-Symoné Defends Univision Host
Last week controversy ensued when Univision host Rodner Figueroa said, on air, “Michelle Obama looks like she’s part of the cast of Planet of the Apes.” Figueroa would later go on to apologize, saying he’s not racist and that he had voted for President Obama twice. The damage was done, though, and Figueroa was quickly fired. The ladies of The View discussed the story Monday. Raven-Symoné, filling in as a guest host said, “Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people look like animals. Is that rude? I look like a bird, I look like a bird. So can I be mad if someone called me Toucan Sam?”
Kermit Addresses Newly Discovered Frog that Looks Like Him
Kermit the Frog hopped by The View where he addressed the news that scientist Brian Kubicki, of the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center, discovered a new species of frog that many believe bears a resemblance to him. "The truth is they are relatives of mine. I have known about them for years," mentioned Kermit. He went on to assure his long lost relatives that they aren't infringing on his copyrighted look but they may have to make amends with The Walt Disney Company by saying, "They may all have to wear mouse ears during the summer."
Raven-Symoné Faces Backlash After Harriet Tubman Comments
On The View, the hosts were having a conversation as to which woman they would like to see replace President Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. An online poll saw most participants vote for Harriet Tubman, over other female icons like Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosa Parks.
Raven-Symoné didn’t agree with the general consensus, saying, “I would have chosen Rosa Parks. I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now. I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t happen in our world, because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again.”
People took to Twitter, where Raven was trending, and started complaining about her and her comments.
Sherri Shepherd Jokes About Giving Up Child, Divorce from Ex-Husband
Sherri was on The View for the first time since a judge ruled that she was the legal mother of an 8 month old that she and ex-husband Lamar Sally had through surrogacy. Shepherd had a change of heart during the pregnancy and divorced her husband, but was still ruled to be responsible for the child. The episode was pre-taped only two weeks after that ruling, so the subject was pretty fresh.
Shepherd's open dialogue started when Raven Symone explained how impatient she was to have kids, to which Shepherd responded, "Girl, I got one or two you could have of mine. I will give them to you."
The topic then changed to the importance of friendship and how it affects relationships, with Shepherd explaining of her failed marriage, "I actually feel like if I had listened to my best friends, I wouldn't be having a million attorney’s in my life right now."
Still, joking about her struggles wasn't something Shepherd was shy about doing, concluding the topic of discussion with, "My father still wants to kill my husband… Dad you're 70 years old. What you going to do now?"
Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie Perez Have Heated Debate About Rachel Dolezal on ‘The View’
The story surrounding Rachel Dolezal, the former leader of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP who is accused of being a white woman pretending to be black, is nuanced and complex and has become a national story. On The View Monday, hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie Perez had a heated debate. Perez took offense to the idea that Dolezal would understand what it’s like to be a minority in the United States saying, “You still don’t understand what it means to be colored in this country.” Goldberg, on the other hand, was more accepting of Dolezal, saying, “As far as I’m concerned if she wants to be black, she can be black.”
