Also the 80s. Madeleine is a theater actress, and Chekhov is a costume designer there. Chekhov is also an informant who knows a lot of things and will share them for a fee. Right now, he's giving information to the president against "Stella Octangula", but in reality, he would give the information to Stella too if they asked him (and paid him well).

Madeleine got into trouble because of her ex-boyfriend and was looking for a way to get money or people who could provide it, and Chekhov suddenly turned out to be someone who knew something.
