Groundhog Day (1993)

Bridgette: (Bridgette didn't give me a review of this film, but I know it is one of their favorites, so I'm just putting in a 5). (5/5)

Lamb: I imagine this was insanely novel as a movie concept at the time. I was really happy to see Chris Elliot. A lot of the soundtrack was solid, and I had just enough fun throughout the film to not be bored. I didn’t have too much more fun than that, but I did laugh out loud. I’d care to watch ANOTHER Harold Ramis film. (3.5/5)

Grumpy Old Men (1993)

Lamb: I do not know who the film is for. Our ancient main characters have a 15 year gap between the love interest, and it is distracting the entire time. Just cast either direction, I don’t care. Why are they even fighting over a babe?! Their equipment hasn’t worked for 20 years. I did think that some of the jokes were delivered well. I wouldn’t watch it again. I was happy to see Christopher McDonald. (0.5/5)

Tombstone (1993)

Bridgette: I love every line in this movie. This movie makes me glad I am not living in the Wild West. I had fun and would watch it again. (4/5)

Lamb: What an absolutely stacked cast. This Wild West drama gave me a fondness for a time when all the men were sweaty and a box of bullets was a nickel. Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer knock it out of the park. This is probably the most fun I could have had with a cowboy film. I wanna wear a long black duster and a round brimmed hat, enforce justice the only way I know how. (3.5/5)

Hocus Pocus (1993)

Bridgette: Hocus pocus: although a beloved classic it seemed to focus on virginity more than I’d remembered. Stunning performances. It gets a point for featuring trick or treating, Halloween music and ghosts. (4/5)

Lamb: The Sanderson Sisters (Midler, Parker, and Najimy) are so fun to watch perform. This timeless Halloween classic really captures the feeling of the 90s. When I wasn’t having fun watching witches, I was wishing witches were on screen. I had fun, and I’ll certainly watch it again. (3/5)

The Vanishing (1993)

Bridgette: This movie stuck with me for 30 years. Jeff Bridges was so creepy I’ve never been able to watch him in anything else. Love Sandra Bullock always. Kiefer Sutherland did an okay job representing the madness of obsession.  (4/5)

Lamb: Jeff Bridges plays a phenomenal creep. I think I’m confused about everybody getting into shitty relationships, and then resolving to search for their missing significant other. I really didn’t have fun, but I think it is a film you could not make in a modern year. I wouldn’t watch it again. (2/5)

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

Bridgette: This was an iconic ‘93 movie and re-watching it was comforting but I don’t know that I need to watch it again. I do love Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks and Rosie. (3/5)

Lamb: As far as love stories go, I think it’s a pretty good one. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are great on the screen together. I’m a little salty, because it’s a movie where everybody likes film and talks to each other about film, but everybody also loves love, so I’ll let it slide. (3.5/5)

The Fugitive (1993)

Bridgette: Haven’t seen this since ‘93. Re-watching it kind of gave me Enemy of the State (1998) vibes, perhaps this was the inspiration. Harrison Ford always shines, I liked traversing the fugitive life with him. I found Tommy Lee’s criminal hunting instincts a little too surreal, it would’ve been better explained if we found out he was a warlock in a past life but I can overlook it because it is, after all, Tommy Lee. (4/5)

Lamb: What an absolutely stacked cast. I can’t say I had “fun”, but I was gripped to my chair for the run of the movie. I often think that “thriller” is just another buzzword to put on a DVD cover, but this film really shows what can make the genre fun. I maybe don’t get why people like Harrison Ford, but that’s a problem I have to work through myself. Tommy Lee Jones is my MVP, and I laughed out loud when a dummy got thrown off a dam. (4/5)

Josh and S.A.M. (1993)

Bridgette: Back in the good old days when children were banned from having autonomy or opinions or feelings. When children were told their mother is moving to a different country and getting married and they weren’t allowed to question it. I liked seeing Little Pete. Kid announces that his sibling was attacked by a man and the only thing the dad can say is “You couldn’t kill a squirrel”. I hope I find my liberty maid one day.  Overall it’s the adventure and sheer 90’s-ness of the movie for me. (4/5)

Lamb: What a bizarre kids movie. I have never seen anything like it, and I think it’s because these kids actively put themselves into dangerous situations and are rewarded for it. Standards and practices would be all over this. I thought the concept was extremely novel, however confusing, and thought the child actors even had some good line deliveries. I don’t think I would work with a mountain lion. (2/5)
