Hello, gunblr; I am @kasaron, here giving you a short personal introduction. I’ll do what I can to be briefer than my usual long-winded self, I promise. (I can feel you rolling your eyes already.)
I’m a 26-year-old civilian (no military experience) living in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I am a major fan of tabletop roleplaying games, video games, history (especially historic narratives), firearms, outdoorsmanship/camping, as well as cosplay and a sundry list of other nerdy stuff.
I frequently (once every 3 months or so) go out to meet with friends from the internet to shoot guns and go camping, something I’d eventually like to bring to this platform, if time and situation allows.
My “schtick,” as it were is that I am bound, due to my philosophy, to treat everyone with a modicum of respect. I tend to ask questions before responding, especially in regards to blanket statements such as banning firearms. I’m also (often) painfully verbose; mostly because I’m worried about being misunderstood by others in regards to my beliefs and philosophy, and my syntax tends to be more than a bit archaic or anachronistic.
Most of my argument comes from an ethical or philosophical standpoint; I rarely utilize statistical information except where it is to illustrate a point regarding the ethical course of action. That isn’t to say I dislike the use of statistics and collated information (I’m actually a sucker for a well-crafted spreadsheet, and have literally spent an hour talking about Excel functions; I know, nerd), just that I firmly believe that many other members of the community to it better than I ever could.
I plan on writing or re-posting a few articles in regards to the ethics of firearm ownership, carry (both concealed and open) as well as the philosophy behind Armed Nonviolence, as well as likely a few articles on firearms I have had the chance to handle, or my own experiences shooting firearms.
I do not plan on using this tumblr as a platform for debates in the vein that I already do on my main tumblr, since 90% of it is me asking questions and being ignored, and I’d hate to spam you all with that if at all possible. If the general consensus is that I should start debating using @gunblr-actual as a platform in the future, then I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
My main hope and goal for this tumblr is to foster discussion, as well as to clear away misconceptions on both sides of the firearm debate; to help educate and inform people, both experienced shooters and staunch anti-gun folks alike, to build a better, more savvy, more intelligent discourse as time goes on.
