The first cut is made before he even notices the knife.
The expression on the other boy’s face is the first thing that clues him in that something isn’t quite right. And then there’s pain. He blinks, the smile on his face wobbling as he looks down at his abdomen and sees… blood? “Vin…cent…?” That’s when he spots it, the knife in Vincent’s hand, the one that has to be the one his father had given him. The one Vincent said had been taken away from him. The glass in his hand falls to the floor and shatters.
His eyes are wide, and with one hand pressed to the wound in his side, he starts to back up, but Vincent is unscared and much quicker; he darts forward with another slash, this time targeting Kichirou’s hand. The pharmacologist yelps, staggering backward until he falls back against the wall. “O-o-ohhhhhh, V-Vincent…”
“Our friendship, while at times sadly not focused on me, has been quite nice, I assure you. But…” His voice, formerly so confident, falters, and he takes a measured step toward Kichirou. “You heard that motive, Kichirou. You heard it. I… I can’t–”
“Please–” His eyes are closed, and as he’s sliding down the wall into a sitting position, his knees scrunched up against his chest, it’s unsure if he’s even still here, really.
“I’ll make it quick.”
“No, no no no no nnnnnn…”
Vincent finds that the act itself is like comforting a child after a funeral; something he’s ill-suited for, and something that despite his promise, he messes up, badly.
“What do you mean ‘this is weird’??” Yo asked, looking across the booth in the back corner of Burger King, scrunching up her nose as it barely touches against the pink and black striped bangs she’d been sporting especially for today. The mirror image of herself- er, well, she supposed SHE was the mirror- looked back in silent disapproval as if saying explicitly “you fuckin’ know what I mean”.
“Hey, come on, it’s just... a little fun, right? I thought you loved this shit, you and your ego. Are you mad because I make a better you, or what??” Though her words remained relatively casual, her voice raised some and soon it became clear that she was angry at Hokori’s blatant “ignore you until you just leave burger king” strategy. She smacked her palms against the table.
“If you can’t even get along with yourself, who are you going to like- ever?? Hff, forget it. I can’t believe you made me buy your nuggets.” Because Yo is one who treasures cinematic tropes, she vents her frustration by pouring the entirety of her soda on Hokori’s head before stalking out.
