Other Important Things:

- His 'Use for Hire' Job has Often Included Sexual Acts, Usually from People Who Want to Keep Up a Certain Type of Image. (Easier to Lie About What They Paid Thurston to Do Than Going to the Brothel)
- While he can not fully control his EL powers, especially when they are in a heightened emotional state, they have learned how to focus it for the most part
- When it comes to people paying to have him use their powers on them, Thurston is very clear that when he says they need to stop, that they aren't too push him further. This usually happens when they are starting to lose their focus/what control they have, and is a way to keep everyone safe. A few of his scars are from people who didn't listen, and after pushing them too far saw and felt things that caused them to attack him.
Backstory:
Thurston Finch's life hadn't started out a tragedy. He was born the oldest child to Roger and Lydia Finch on Ring 8, two years later gaining a younger brother. They were a happy family, and even when Thurston's status as an EL started to surface they did their best to find ways to keep both Thurston and those around him safe. They tried to develop ways to help control or at least focus it, despite having no personal knowledge with any of it.
Things changed however when Ian, their younger brother, was 8 years old. There had been an accident that resulted in Ian's death. Understandably his mother took it hard, and over the next year she became worse and worse until finally one afternoon while Roger was at work and Thurston was at school she took her life. Not even a year later Roger Finch joined his wife and son in death, the result of a heart attack. At age 11, just one week before his 12th birthday, Thurston Finch had become an orphan.
They spent the rest of their youth living in the orphanage where they tended to get into fights, usually not started by them, and often times would result to using their abilities as an EL-1 whenever fights turned into multiples on one.
After he aged out of the orphanage they were moved back into their family suite. Trying to find a way to make money he started to sell himself. Letting people pay to use him for whatever and however they wanted. Sometimes this meant helping move furniture, other times it meant someone paying to beat him up because they needed to get out some aggression. More than once it has meant people, usually from the more expensive quarters, paying to have mods tested out on him so they could see if they worked and decide if they really wanted it or not. They are often paid to use their EL abilities on people, Believers being the most frequent customers for such services.

TW: Death
Jackie Davenport was born and raised on the Luna Station military base where both of her parents were stationed. A quintessential army brat in a long line of army brats, she was blessed with a relatively happy and stable childhood, albeit somewhat lonely due to the fact that her parents were often gone on assignment. They loved her, and she knew that they loved her, but they were also principled and duty-minded people who had sworn an oath, and that was an oath that they honoured. Sometimes to a fault. Often to the detriment of time spent with their daughter.
Her loneliness was further exacerbated by the fact that, despite being desperate to belong, she never really fit in with her peers - instead bouncing from social group to social group without really bonding with any of them. However, it was in the absence of friends that Jackie instead found comfort in mechanics and technology, in taking things apart and putting them back together to figure out how they worked. Evenings alone in her room disassembling her belongings eventually turned into sneaking out to the hangars to watch visiting spacecraft be serviced. Or, when she got old enough to figure out how, sneaking onto the ships themselves.
When she was a teenager, her parents were reassigned and their whole family relocated to the Amity, where she was given a chance to pursue engineering under the tutelage of some of the best and brightest mankind has to offer. Unfortunately, her excitement over her new life was short-lived when The Big Sick swept the station and she lost both of her parents. Grieving and listless and more lonely than she had ever been, Jackie seriously considered going back to Luna Station or even Earth, before she realised that what she wanted wasn’t down on solid ground. It was up there in the stars. It always had been.
Misc
She has an Orange mod linked to her sensory and motor cortexes that gives her quicker reflexes for 15 minutes when activated. She can use it at will, but risks burning out if she does it more than 3 times without resting. She activates it by running her right thumb across the tips of the other four fingers.
She keeps a notebook with various sketches and diagrams. Some are studies of existing technology - mostly parts of spaceships - while others are designs for her own inventions. She keeps digital soft light hologram files as well, but there's something about analogue drawing that soothes her.
She is a decent hacker, mostly from learning how to hack into the computers of various ground vehicles and smaller spaceships on Luna Station.
She has two robot pets. One is a crab called Snaps that she made herself, and the other is an octopus called Hank that was a gift for her seventeenth birthday from her parents (the last birthday she spent with them before they passed). Snaps is very friendly and will break into random dance numbers to lighten the mood (#crabrave), whereas Hank tends to hang out on Jackie’s shoulder and sometimes hide in her hair when other people are present.

TW: Abuse
Clara Cassidy was born to a prominent Ring 2 family that almost had more dysfunction to their name than they had wealth - and they had a lot of wealth. Her mother was a beautiful but cold woman who always seemed more concerned with how things looked than how they actually were. Her father was incredibly strict and impossible to please, and when things didn’t go his way, he got angry. He got angry often, and when he got angry, he got violent.
After sixteen godawful years of pretending to be the perfect family, the only way that Cassidy could see out of her situation was to run - and run she did, to the only place she knew they would never try to look for her. Life in Ring 9 was hard, and she quickly learned that having integrity and moral boundaries was a luxury that she couldn’t afford if she wanted to survive. Whatever she had to do and whoever she had to work for to keep going, to stay above the surface, she did. She did things that she didn’t want to do. She did things that she was deeply ashamed of. She did things that, over time, earned her the moniker Crimson Cassidy by the many unscrupulous people who hired her. Until one day, the girl who had fallen further than the length of the Amity itself met someone who changed her life forever.
Peggy was a no-nonsense Station Security Officer who saw something in her that she had long since stopped seeing in herself - someone worth saving. It was Peggy who caught her half out of her mind running errands for criminals. It was Peggy who negotiated the deal that ensured that she didn't have to take the fall for it as long as she helped put those people away. And it was with Peggy’s support, guidance, occasional tough love, and never-ending well of patience that Cassidy slowly allowed herself to become more than what she’d settled for. When she eventually joined Citizen Security, it was to both honour the only real parent she’d ever known, as well as in the hope that one day, she would be able to pay back the kindness that had been shown to her.
Misc
She almost exclusively goes by her surname Cassidy. Very, very few people call her Clara, and even fewer can do it without being heavily side-eyed.
Her real identity is known by her superiors in Citizen Security as well as most of Station Security. She assumes they don't really care about it since word hasn't gotten back to her parents yet.
She has several tattoos. Her first was a blackbird on her right shoulder which she got to signify turning over a new leaf in her life.
She has a sensory mod that allows her to record and replay what she sees and hears. (She uses it for work purposes, before you go getting any kinky ideas!)
She was a runner and later enforcer for a number of seedy people from ages 16 to 22. It was the latter role that earned her the nickname "Crimson Cassidy".

Backstory:
Cygnus was born to Jeremiah and Alison Hawthorne the younger child of a set of fraternal twins. The quieter of the two, Cygnus was often dragged along and pulled into things by his older sister, Lyra. For as long as Cygnus could remember the two were inseparable, and he often felt like she was the only person to truly understand him. The fact that they were both ELs (EL-2 to be exact) might have very well increased that bond between them, and at night they would often visit each other's dreams. When The Big Sick occurred both were struck ill with it, first Cygnus and then Lyra. Cygnus eventually recovered, however Lyra hadn't been as lucky, a fact that Cygnus has carried around with him since.
Over the years following Lyra's death Cygnus became more and more shut off to everyone, including his parents. Jeremiah and Alison began to become overprotective of him as ELs were being blamed for the disease. Cygnus started to take the Orange, finding that when he took it he had hallucinations of Lyra, and he became addicted to it (something he is still addicted to.) Despite his tendency to not be the most outgoing or talkative person, Cygnus did find a place for himself as a performer as it reminded him of Lyra and made him feel connected to her in a way.
Cygnus does not like the fact that his parents built a fake Lyra. In fact he hates the android for having the face and memories of his sister. He sees them and all he is is reminded of the fact that he's the one that survived, and that the other half of himself is gone.

BACKSTORY -
cw: medical abuse, child abuse
Declan was born to two Irish scientists who, upon discovering his EL-2 status while he was still a child, took it upon themselves to solve the mystery of the ELs. They opened up his head and poked around in his brain many times throughout his childhood and tween years, permanently damaging his intellectual development. Once they realized this, they stopped the medical experiments and began experimenting with his abilities through sleep studies, which they deemed safer. They joined the Believers to gain more access to their knowledge and the faction encouraged them further.
Now, as an adult, Declan is used to being poked and prodded and studied and used for various experiments. He doesn’t mind because he sees how excited his parents get when presented with a new problem. He doesn’t realize how messed up it truly is.
Despite his intellectual struggles, Declan is a very kind and friendly young man. He enjoys meeting new people and lending a helping hand where he can. He doesn’t mean to be loud and rude, but he can sometimes drive people away with his lack of filter. Those that stick around, though, find a very sweet and loving friend.
Sugar’s parents didn’t know what her name would be until she was born. Just as they didn’t fall in love with any names for her older brother until they knew who he was first, she was lovingly called baby girl until the young couple landed on Sugar -- because she was so sweet.
Later, her father would joke that Sugar was less sweet like honey and more sweet like chili chocolate. Adventurous and mischievous and happy to kick you in the ass.
Sugar was born and raised on the Luna Station due to her father’s work shuttling passengers to and from planets and across the galaxy. Her mother, hardworking and chronically exhausted, worked nights cleaning military bases and university classrooms, waiting tables and washing hotel linens. They weren’t rich by any means, but the Watts worked hard so their kids never wanted for anything.
While she and her brother were both bright children, Sugar found it hard to stay focused in school (always with her heads in the stars). Her brother, however, was a prodigy and knew from a young age that what he wanted, more than anything, was to be an engineer. He was a Tekhead, through and through, and would have done great things if allotted the time. Sugar was more interested in flying the ships and playing with the tech than making it herself. She inherited her adventurous spirit from her father while her brother took after their mother with his inquisitive mind and quiet dedication. What all the Watts shared was an excitement for the future and the work ethic to do what needed to be done to make a difference on a small (or large) scale -- it ran deeply through their veins. Their parents were happy to be providers for their little unit and impact the lives of other people on a micro scale. Sugar’s brother had bigger plans and ideas -- he wanted to be innovative. After his death, Sugar focused harder in school feeling like she owed it to him to do her best in everything she endeavored because that’s what he would do. Her brother only did work he was proud of and she looked up to him. To this day she tries to do the same.
Her brother’s death was sudden -- an accident. Sugar wasn’t supposed to be there but she loved her brother and always wanted to be his shadow so when he went to the lab or to work on his beeping machines or whatever else he did Shug was close behind. Her mother was always nagging her about it and for good reason. Chemicals were dangerous. Heavy machinery was dangerous. And there was risk in the development of new technology... Even the smartest people, like her brother, weren’t perfect and sometimes made mistakes. One miscalculation could end a life. Sometimes Sugar when remembering the evening when everything went boom she can swear she remembers her brother jumping in front of her to take the brunt of the explosion, as if he knew she was there even though she had tried to do her best to sneak in when he wasn’t looking.
Still, one man’s body couldn’t completely shield a child from a disaster. The doctors had said was a miracle Sugar survived -- that the shrapnel that lodged itself through her eye missed killing her by millimeters. Of course, these years were hard for everyone (emotionally and financially). They were able to reconstruct the left side of Sugars face but it would cost them, and it continued to as she grew and needed replacements or refittings of cybernetics. Her mother, now fearful and over protective, hovered over Sugar even after she healed (a habit that was more than constricting and still causes grief between mother and daughter to this day). Sugar never felt slowed down by her injuries, in fact she often attempted to get out of her hospital bed or escape her room shortly after she was well enough to walk again. Her father tried his best, and Shug’s relationship with him strengthened. He encouraged her to keep seeking adventure as well as to be patient with her mother who worried because she loved her deeply. It didn’t make sense to Sugar to wallow -- that’s not what her brother would have wanted; he would have wanted her to get out there and do. So that’s what she did. She got back up. And she got focused. And she set out to be the best damn pilot out there. Her and her brother used to talk about leaving the Luna Station and exploring the cosmos and that’s exactly what she did.
Her focus is piloting and geography, originally doing mission/exploration work for the military on the Luna Station. While it got her off the moon, they kept her on quite a tight leash which Shug resented. The entire galaxy was literally within arms reach and she was always and often reeled back in before she could grasp at it. Needless to say when she was recruited for The Amity she jumped at the opportunity.
She moved her parents onto the ship with her and now able, provided for them in their old age like they did for her. She lost her father to the big sick and a small part of her feels guilty for moving him onto the ship though she knows it isn’t fair to blame herself for his death. After her husband passed Sugar’s mother became even more anxious and thus nowadays Sugar spends a lot of time at her mom’s when she’s not working. Shug is happy to spend time with her mother (even if she fusses at her over literally everything).
Fun Facts:
-Shug is always wearing shades. When she was younger this was something her mother strongly encouraged her to do so that people “wouldn’t get the wrong idea” about her cybernetics being fueled by the orange. Sugar used to cover her face to appease her mother though she always felt her mom was over reacting. Her brother was a Tekhead, and having an orange cybernetic makes her feel close to him. Nowadays she wears the shades because it’s become something of her personal brand, not because she feels the need to hide. She never did.
-That said, she doesn’t consider herself a Tekhead. She thinks the orange is an awesome tool (it is the reason she can see and is alive after all). But she never really understood her brother’s obsession with it. It made him happy so she tried to be supportive.
-If you look closely enough, just by her ear on the metal of her face plate there’s the coordinates of the landing dock where her father would take Sugar and her brother to fly holo-kites after hours and he would tell them about his travels over french fries or milkshakes. She says this is how she takes her father and her brother with her on her adventures.
-Shug’s mother is going a bit senile. She often forgets things and wanders around areas of the ship she shouldn’t. It does worry Sugar a bit...
-On a completely different note: Sugar is the life of the party. She’s a smart ass and a good time. A bit of a class clown and the friend you can always count on to be there to listen or offer a shoulder to cry on. That said, she... is known to irritate some of the higher ups because she is often out of uniform or being too loud or being too happy but, listen, they’re just stuffy and need to lighten up. Sugar’s feeling is that she got a metal shard to the brain and survived she’s allowed to be as loud and as annoying as she god damn wants. Anyway, she is a delight, thank you very much.
-Sugar is... Ok, she’s a bit of a flirt but like... Come on! She’s allowed! She’s only human, jeez...

Background
TW: Death, Drug Overdose
Zarina’s life is and always has been dominated by the Orange. Her mother, her father, her older brother by quite a few years - all of them were O-Heads, had been O-Heads for as long as she could remember, and never showed the slightest indication that they were willing to stop. Not even when her and her sister’s psychic abilities began manifesting and the consequences of their actions materialised in a very real and sometimes dangerous way. She resented them for that, almost as much as she resented the “gifts” she had that she’d never asked for.
On the other hand, her brother - a diehard Believer - was as excited about her new abilities as she was reluctant to use them. But she loved him, and it wasn’t like Z had anything better to do than to tag along to the odd meetings and meet other Believers. Honestly, she was never sure how convinced she was herself of their cause, but she enjoyed having a place to go and a group of people who all thought that she was special. They encouraged her to embrace her abilities, and with time she not only got comfortable with using them - she mastered using them to her advantage.
While Zachary was protective but not always the best influence, and Zarina was clever but an unpredictable wild child, their sister Zinnia was the peacemaker and moral core of the family - the one person Z confided in and trusted implicitly. She was their anchor, so when The Big Sick swept the station and Zinny was one of the 218 people whose lives were lost, what remained of their already dysfunctional family quickly fell apart. Her parents dipped, and whatever responsibility Zach still felt for her was increasingly overshadowed by his addiction.
A bright girl with an aptitude for chemistry, Z had been experimenting with the Orange out of both intellectual curiosity and in an attempt to improve the product - to produce a better high, a stronger high, a longer-lasting high. Her brother supported her efforts, and in her academic zeal and desire for his approval, she wilfully ignored the fact that all she was doing was making a better drug for an addict. When he finally overdosed on her supply, she found herself on her own with no one to blame but herself for what happened.
It was a wake-up call that she desperately needed, but at that point she had been doing it for so long that she didn’t know how to get out. The whole operation - the supply chain, the smuggling, the refinement process - it was her baby and it needed her to function, and to be honest, she needed it to function. In her crisis, Zarina tried pivoting toward creating a safer high instead of a better one, hoping to reduce the high fatality rate of overdoses. It’s a good cause, but most days she fears it’s too late to turn things around when she’s already made so many mistakes.
Misc
Despite how she makes her living, Zarina doesn't do any kind of drugs herself, or even drink very much. Her vice of choice has always been casual sex, which she enjoys frequently and with many different partners.
She has a number of Orange-infused tattoos. Most of them are decorative rather than the ritualistic tattoos her fellow Believers tend to sport, but one of them - around her left wrist - is identical to the one her brother had before he passed.
When she was 16 years old, she began a physical relationship with one of her teachers that continued until her sister’s death. She always insisted that it was consensual, and still thinks of what they had as a perfectly healthy relationship between equals.
Please welcome Reece Porter to Amity Station. They are an ANDROID CITIZEN belonging to NO FACTION and are known to be Curious, Genuine, Enthusiastic as well as Odd, Submissive, Impressionable. They live in RING 6 and work as a Ticket Seller - The Globe.
Habits: Scratching the Side of Their Head When Processing/Thinking ; Bouncing on the Balls of Their Feet When Standing ; Absently Picking Up and Playing With Objects Around Them ; Talking Fast
Other Important Things:
- Currently Does Not Know They are an Android
- Would Have Attended School For At Least 1 Year
- Others on the Ship (Mainly Family and Friends of their Dads) Agreed to be Part of the False Memories That Were Implanted
- Their Fathers had a Tendency to Take Them to have Memories Removed that They Deemed to be too Traumatic (This Includes Anytime They Might Have Discovered that They were an Android/Not Human)
Backstory:
As with most children Reece started out as nothing more than a mere thought. However, unlike living children that thought turned into a design and years of saving in order to pay for someone to build and bring them to life. A lot of things had to be considered, what would they look like? They were building from the ground up and unlike people that had biological children they could control what they looked like. Even with being a same sex couple they had the ability to give their child features from both of them. There was also the question of age. Too young wouldn't be good and too old wouldn't either. Eventually someone that could pass for their late teens and early twenties was the agreed upon age range. It also meant that they could find work somewhere and help out that way. After all, it had cost much of their savings to build them.
As part of the build they planted false memories and stories into them. Ones that gave them a past life that they believe to be true. Their actual memories started two years ago when they were activated. When Reece was '18' they found their father Kevin dead from natural causes when they came home from school one day. This, among several others, was a memory that their other father had removed. Leaving them with the knowledge and memory that their other father had died, but not that they had been the one to find him.
To this day Reece doesn't know that they aren't human.
