"Quickly, hide!" The Doctor told his current companion, ushering them behind an abandoned vehicle resembling a squared car without wheels that lay on its side. The two ducked down beside it but from the sound of the lone cyberman, they had been detected.
The Doctor stopped when his mind registered what the Cyberman had said. "That's not a typical Cyberman speech pattern," He said to his companion, standing. "They don't just say "who's there" they order you to come out." He explained.
"Don't."
"I've got to." He whispered. "Go back to the TARDIS. You'll be safe there." He repeated. They nodded.
The Doctor stepped out of his hiding place. "I surrender." He announced with his hands raised.
This was not a good place. Oh, this was definitely not a good place.
Heart pounding wildly, Evelyn flattened herself against a corridor wall, biting her lip as the sound of booted feet drew closer. She wanted to leave, to phase away, to get the hell out of here before something happened, because she knew from experience that whatever happened to her bilocated form would mirror in her everyday form and she was in no hurry to die twice this night.
But she had heard a cry of pain coming from somewhere nearby, followed by a rumbling, mocking laughter, and the sound had stilled her just before she had a chance to slip into what she called the Between-Space, which would carry her home. She didn’t consider herself particularly brave, though perhaps her temper might often make it seem so, but she knew she couldn’t just leave whomever it was to suffer or worse. She moved as stealthily as she could along the wall, away from the footfalls and towards where she had heard the shout, creeping along a curving wall. Her eyes widened as she came around the bend and to a looming, barred and gated archway. A row of cage-like cells lined the wall of the room beyond the gate, and near as she could tell, they were all occupied. Some of the prisoners seemed humanoid, others... not so much.
She hesitated, confounded by the sight before her, unsure of what she should do. Why were these people being held here? This was obviously some sort of prison, or was it? She was again acutely aware of how utterly and bafflingly alien she felt when she Traveled, an outsider, stranger in a strange land.
I should probably leave, she told herself, but instead she reached for the gate, rattling it gently. No surprise that it was locked. She took a deep breath, narrowing her focus with deliberate intent-- she could get inside, if she did this just right-- and slipped space as the winds of the Between-Space roared in her ears and buffeted her small body. An instant later, she was taking form again, just inside the gate.
Well, that worked. It sucked up quite a bit of precious energy, but it worked. She didn’t know how long she was going to last here before being pulled back home; she had to figure out what was going on and make a decision quickly.
I’m running a themed day of the week, essentially. If you’ve seen badwolfrun‘s Midnight Monday (or Satan Pit Saturday) for the last couple months, then I’m doing something similar and devoting my Tuesdays to Doomsday because it’s my fave episode and I love talking about it and seeing the things other people have to say and the things they make! So I thought a weekly celebration would be fabulous :D
The post with a more in-depth description is here. :))
Expecting Mister Stark’s mechanic to be arriving “around lunch” JARVIS focused a portion of his attention on the driveway beginning a half-hour before then. An approaching motorcycle was tracked, and compared to others in his database until it was identified as belonging to Mister Richards.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Richards.” He greeted the mechanic when he stopped at the door.
this is 10000% @other donna rpers i’ve seen through the years; why y'all make donna this sweet talkin’, “love”, and super kind person??? like yo yeah she’s got empathy but she isn’t gonna help an old lady get her cat down from a tree. fuck that shit, call the police or your neighbor lady, i got my own shit to do, tbh more likely what she would think and say in a more censured manner. that’s the thing about donna, she’s self-centered but she’s empathetic if she cares aka mass murders, UNEXPLAINABLE AND UNREASONABLE acts of violence, when her best bud in the galaxy is like seriously on the brink of a breakdown. but she ain’t about to sweet talk and listen to every strangers issues bro.
