Holding the space for people to gather together online has been the most important work I have done this year. @priyaparker wrote an excellent guidebook to the facilitation of meetings and events. #theartofgathering describes how “a gathering’s social contract is often invisible to us, even when we are carrying out its commands.” . The creation and protection of that invisible social contract is the duty of the host, and Parker’s book is full of rich examples from her own #facilitation career. These examples make the book an enjoyable read, counterpointing the lessons with real-world examples of application. . In preparation for my Zoom Host Intensive, where I teach people how to lead better Zoom meetings, I have enjoyed studying this book. . One of my favourite things to do is turn on some chill music (the “pulse of Americana on Spotify), pour a glass of wine and cook a nice meal. Since Norah has been born it’s been hard to do that. She went through a mommy only, no swing, or even carrier phase for a bit. That was tough. But today she’s content wit my wearing her, she’s been fed and I was able to get into the kitchen like the old days. It was nice.
