Purim sameach! Nothing like traditions to celebrate the Light!! And yes that means a whole day in the kitchen. But let’s face it I only make those once a year. And they are so worth it 😋 It is my tradition to break today’s fast with almond fingers (also called cigars), coconut ball, montecaos and makrouds (sorry I don’t have a translation for those ones) and of course a very nice and welcomed cup of mint tea. Tomorrow onto getting dressed up, making some noise and sharing these delicacies. When I was growing up I used to go from house to house to bring plates full of these to family members. And every year I make these remembering the stories, those who are no longer with us, those that still are but far away and those beautiful moments I had the privilege to share with all of them. For me maintaining traditions is as much about enjoying the process and the food, honouring those before me, creating memories and foremost welcoming the Light into my house.
