I got my first college pamphlet today! I’m so excited!
Today was: Being absurdly tired. Talking rural and urban theater with other directors, a devising session with media, FALSETTOS, Ayad Akhtar, and catching up with actor and costume designer friends.
Today was: Child auditions for a holiday production. Volunteering at my company's booth during Pride to talk to folks about the company and give away prizes. Packing for tomorrow's work trip.
Today was:
Slogging through text work on my winter show and making solid preliminary cuts. Fussing over things I can’t apply for. Emailing costume and scenic designers. Training with my dog to prepare him for his theatrical debut. Picking up a script from the theater for perusal purposes. Buying overpriced miniature toiletries for my upcoming New York trip.
Today was:
Emailing actors. Mailing costumes. Meeting with an artistic director about a reading and/or cabaret series. Taking my dog to an audition (he booked the role). 😂
Today was: Cleaning costumes by hand (again). Emailing producers, costume shop, community engagement, and directors. AEA paperwork.
Today was: Buying jewelry at the thrift store for the show I'm directing. Understudy rehearsal for the last show I assistant directed. Two bazillion emails to actors, producers, administrators, a tech director, a sound designer, a choreographer, stage managers, and my assistant. Script work on aforementioned show I'm directing. Trying to arrange a sublet for the next time I'm in NYC. Evening concluded with whiskey and leftover Chinese food.
I bring story, I bring humanity, I bring event, and I bring wonder.
