Editing to add: I feel like the fact that Tristan seemed so chipper after when he went into face James Wessex says something, right?

"...waltzing through the security checkpoint and flipping off the guard as he went."

"...whistling to himself as the lift rose..."

"...with a smile he had not possessed during his time of employment..."

And, the chapter ends with this carefree sentence:

"Then he walked leisurely out of the office, whistling as he went."
