being a dramaturg is like a three day fever dream of making a research packet no one’s gonna read then attending every rehearsal in the hopes that you can tell your thots to the director and have them pretend to listen to you
Andrew Milan (his new stage name) stared out at the director and casting director as he gave his auditioning monologue. Both men were smoking but they didnt seem to be paying much attention. Once Andrew was done, he stood there with fake confidence as the men talked. "You'll be understudy for Pico," the director finally said. "Go backstage and get your script." Andrew thanked them happily before almost skipping backstage.
A cigarette dangled out of the side of Credence’s mouth as he fiddled with the backstage curtains. They’d started playing up recently, and Credence had spent a ‘fun’ evening being shouted at about ensuring they didn’t malfunction during a performance.
An actor skipped past, and bumped Credence on the shoulder, knocking him a little. “Hey! Watch it, please!” He sighed, taking a drag on the cigarette and tapping the ash away in annoyance.

me watching a play and the house lights darken just as the show is starting and an actor pretending to be an audience member stands up and starts speaking next to me
dramaturg is the best theatre job bc you get to do the job of the playwright and the director AND you get to piss them off both!
my favorite quarantine activity is to watch the newsies proshot and seethe enviously for three and a half hours
