there's also the scene in thor where loki and thor are facing off and loki asks thor what's made him so weak "don't tell it was that woman" then he says once he's done killing thor "i'll pay her a visit myself" and even though it's easier to miss than the scene with black widow, he's basically threatening to rape jane too
excerpt from thor:
Thor: Loki, this is madness! Loki: Is it madness? Is it? IS IT? I don't know what happened on Earth to make you so soft! Don't tell me it was that woman?... Oh, it was. Well maybe, when we're done here, I'll pay her a visit myself!
[Thor and Loki continue fighting]
at this point, thor should have gone, WTF LOKI. U WEREN'T RAISED THIS WAY WHAT THE EVER FUCK.
again, this is a failure in writing. it's lazy. see, if you want to threaten a man, you threaten to kill/rape his love interest. it's tiresome and sexist. and in no way addressing sexual assault. this in no way a commentary about sexual assault. this is just really fucking lazy writing steeped in misogyny.
such casual reference to rape is being normalized in film and tv. like, totes normal for this to be a threat. i don't know like, wtf. this isn't handling a hot topic issue. like the writers aren't being social commentators and being witty. it's lazy and the lowest denominator in dialogue
