BOOK: The Blood Between Us Author: Zac Brewer INFORMATION: Growing up, Adrien and his sister, Grace, competed viciously for everything. It wasn’t easy being the adopted sibling, but Adrien tried to get along; it was Grace who didn’t want anything to do with him. When their scientist parents died in a terrible lab fire, there was nothing left to hold them together. After years apart, Adrien and Grace are now forced to reunite for their senior year, at the elite boarding school where their parents were teachers. Being back around everyone he used to know causes Adrien to examine the person he’s become, even while being around Grace turns him into someone he doesn’t want to be. But all those questions are cast aside when Adrien starts to suspect that Grace might be stealing their parents’ research and claiming it as her own-or worse, that she had a hand in their deaths. Suddenly, the only questions that matter are whether she’s guilty and, if so, what Adrien is going to do about it. With his signature mix of snark and darkness, New York Times bestselling author Zac Brewer spins a thrilling coming-of-age mystery about the insidious limits of labels and the ties that bind just a little too tightly.

First things first, I fucking adore the cover. It’s absolutely beautiful, which you’ll see when I post this! I’ve been a fan of Zac Brewer’s for a long time, back when he was previously Heather Brewer, and he has never failed to deliver, not on my standards, anyway. My standards are simple: good plot, good/great characters, and a conclusion that would leave me speechless. Zac has always delivered on that, and on his belief that happy endings aren’t that happy unless they involve blood! And I knew that while The Blood Between Us wouldn’t have a happy ending, I was glad that they sort of had a happy ending. That’s all I’m saying on that, since I really, truly, hate when books or, say, movies are spoiled for me! Moving on, Adrien and Grace. Ho, lordy. They are worse than me and my siblings, and we’re all related! That being said, the plot was great, and it spun the whole “hating my adopted sibling” on its head. And I really love how Adrien was totally… Inbetween? He wasn’t particular when it came to who he wanted to date or kiss, guy, girl, bi, gay, straight. He wasn’t particular, and I like that about him, that he doesn’t care about your gender, your preference, and so on. JOSH! I love Josh. Reminds me of me a little, all shy and cutesy and some days, a little confused. Josh is my favorite character in this book. He just… ugh. I love him to death. This beautiful kid with a lot of confidence (I’m not a totally confident person, but I try some days, and I think that’s enough). I think I spoke too much of Josh. Sorry! I really didn’t like Grace, especially at the beginning. But now that I’ve finished the book, I was so, so, so wrong about Grace! Anyway, I really recommended reading this! It’s such a great book, great concept with really well-researched chemistry terms (I’m a big science nerd, always wondering how this does this, and so on).
A/N: Madness won’t be out until 9/19/17, and who know how long it’ll take to get into the libraries, so when I can get my hands on it, there’ll be a book review! Until then, enjoy what comes inbetween and so on. -WWB
