               “So, did you ask her yet or are you still pussy footin’ around it?”  The smirk was, at least, half toned down as he glanced up towards his partner, having watched the latest in a long line of exchanges between William and Ortega.  It was almost painful to watch -- not that he could blame the cop for his caution, Ortega was more than a tad intimidating, and that wasn’t an easy thing to admit.  Especially since she was so damn small, but ... well.  Most people were, in comparison.   “You’re never gonna know what she’ll say til you actually get around to it you know.”

                buffy   could   feel   the   vampire’s   presence   behind  the   closed   metal   door   of   his   crypt   ,   her  hand   barely   hovering   over  it   ,   the   feeling   of   wanting   to   burst   in   was  becoming   overwhelming   quicker   than   she   could   catch   up   with.   but   when   he   spoke   and   explained   how   crazy   he   was   getting   ,   just   as   crazy   as   she   was   ,   she swallowed   nervously   and   thickly   ,   before  she   opened   the   door   and   became  face   to   face   with   her  shadow.   her   emerald   eyes   stared  up   into   his   sapphire   ones.    she   hadn’t   touched   him   but   instead   responded   with   a   quiet   but   lustful   voice   ,    ❝    i’m   going   crazy   too.   ❞

she’s nursing a hangover that puts a hole in the head to shame,  and this is  not  the day to be paired up with her.  truth be told  ------kristin doesn’t know  why  she’s being put on a case that's already been assigned to someone  else,  anyway.  but she’s not about to stir the pot by questioning a direct order,  not after recent events.   so she puts her on her most polite  ---  most  professional  expression  (  all things considered  )   as she approaches his desk,  and takes a seat opposite the guy,  launching into her spiel without any preamble.   

          ❛  so  ---   i skimmed the case file.   but tanaka seems to think you have some extra notes i should take a look at,  ❜      one brow arches up higher on her forehead and she takes a sip from a mug holding what passes as  coffee  in this place.     ❛  how ‘bout this  ---   you give me the rundown,  then we put our heads together and figure out where we should go from there ?  ❜     the file makes all of this seem unnecessary;  botched robbery with one dead  ---  happens all the time,  unfortunately,  but nothing  interesting  about it,  nothing worth  investigating.  what she  really wants  is to get this over with,  go home,  crawl into bed,  and forget the  too much  she had to drink the night before.  despite all of that,  somehow  she manages to flash the makings of a smile.    ❛  sound like a plan  ?  ❜

It had been a long night, the adrenaline that had been keeping her going was slowly fading from her veins and her muscles relaxed. She longed to go home to her bath with lots of bubbles and then getting into her comfy bed. Unfortunately that dream was far out of reach tonight. "Spike," she pinched the bridge of her nose, looking exasperated because, well, she was. "Why do you show up at the worst times? Like, do you have some kind of Buffy mood tracker or something? Know when I'm okay then swoop in to make me not." Okay, little harsh but still sometimes it was like he lived to annoy her.

It was so much easier to admit to dreams and otherwise tucked away thoughts when the light was hazy and his soft lips were never far from her skin. “Mhm.” Blindly she reached back to stroke her fingers along his hair, his skin. “What d’you think about?”

           “Oh no, none of that now, not in my kitchen,” Alazne tsked, a hand reaching out to swat incessantly, albeit gently, at William’s hands, intent on shooing him away from his efforts to clear the remainder of the meal from the kitchen table.  “You, sit, relajarse,” she chided, scooping up the bowl that he had been trying to take away and carrying it across to the other half of the kitchen, handing it off to one of the little ones to wrap and put away.  “Time off is hard to come by, on holidays, even more so, recuerdo --”  A quick press of her thumbnail to her lips briefly.  “-- all too well.  And that Captain of yours,” another sharp tsk, and a slight huff.  “Trouble walking, always has been.”
