Nearly there. You made it this far. Come on. Just... a little... more. Success! The nerve-wracked monster's claws closed around the brass doorknob, scuttling quickly out of the library. Fresh air and sweet freedom from the wrath of the librarian, hit her in waves. Getting in and out of the library without provoking the librarian was like performing a secret mission. This monster had had one not so pleasant dip in the lake just for coughing too loudly, and it wasn't going to happen again.
Catalina eased her way down the stone steps, cradling a precarious stack of books in her tentacles. She did her best to make certain none of them fell, but was powerless when a gust of wind blew her reading list off of the top of '19th Century Scaring' smack-dab into a purple lizard-like monster's face.
"Ah, goddamn it," she muttered under her breath. With a painfully awkward expression, she clutched the heavy stack, gritting a set of mismatched teeth. "I am so sorry."
