“We’re home!” Joey called out as he walked through the doors. His arms were full of groceries and Anna wasn’t far behind, carrying in what had been left over in the truck. It had been a nice time, just the two of them for a change, as life with their partners had taken a lot of time, not that either of them were complaining. It was a happy life with few bumps in the road here and there. 

However, when they walked in and found Damien frantically cleaning, they knew something was up.

“Damien? You alright?”

“Is Fei home?”

Damien sat on the floor of the store, a furious man with a gun pacing back and forth in front of the small group of people he held captive. He felt horrible for asking Lyle to join him. He wanted to surprise Parker with something, but had never been good at shopping. And- well- he also hadn’t gotten to spend much time with Lyle, so why not kill two birds with one stone, right?

Well now as the pair were forced on the ground, he wished he hadn’t, that he had just gone out alone that day. Even as he sat in panic, hyperventilating, beside the other man, he wished he wasn’t there.  

“I’m sorry” Damien muttered “I’m sorry, Ly- Ly–” the man spun around and let out a yell towards Damien.

“SHUT UP” he screamed. His race red with pure rage. The man had stormed in after being rejected. Having blamed the store for his failed proposal.. and the break up that followed.

Lyle tried to keep himself still from the shaking and shifting that would normally entail such an anxious state that he was in. Dark brown eyes locked on the armed man keeping them on the ground. This was definitely not what he imagined happening when Damien asked if he wanted to help him shop around. Actually, this was the thing furthest from his mind.

His eyes only moved off the man holding them hostage to look at Damien. Despite on the edge of his own panic attack, Lyle hesitantly putting a hand on his shoulder to try to help calm down his hyperventilating “J..Just breath, dont be s-”

The shout caused him to freeze up, flinching back against the counter he sat in front of. 

This was definitely a delicate situation, once that he wasn’t prepared to handle out of no where like this. Not when Damien was here. If he was in his Petal cure gear, it’d be a different story..

He had waited until a rather reasonable time of day. He hadn’t wanted to wake anyone up or make a fuss over a dream.

But he found that he couldn’t wait anymore. He had gotten too worried, and so he decided to make a quick phone call. 

He typed in Damien’s number and placed the phone to his ear.

Appearing in someone’s home likely wasn’t the best way to start out in a new universe, but?  

Fuck it.

Quentin was going to roll with it.

He was tired, so bunkering down in a full set of high tech, futuristic armor and waiting for whoever owned this place was a perfectly valid course of action.

“Are you the actual owner of this place?”

That was most certainly a ‘yes’.

Quinn was supposed to be present for a meal alongside her parents, a casual meeting, but one she had no interest in attending. Instead, here she was in the kitchen, trying her hands at baking once again. Honestly, she was a bit of a predictable one; if she wasn’t training or reading, she was here making something sweet.

“But if I have you here, then I have an escort now, don’t I?” A smirk crossed her face as she pushed up the rolled sleeves of her shirt. Dresses were just too much of a hassle for her when it came to baking. “While you’re here, perhaps you can ‘escort’ the vanilla out of the top shelf of that cabinet there for me?”

“I guess I’m a fool then” Damien shrugged “I like bein’ out at night, it’s calmer. Less people.”

“At least you can admit that being out here at this time of night is foolish,” Azrael replied. As usual, his face and voice remained stoic, “And I suppose it’s a very fair point.”

He gazed around, as though expecting company. Nothing. But there was a very faint familiar scent on this... child.

“Just be careful. I’m sure you’ve already had your fair share of unfriendly encounters,” he said, “I’m after two men in particular, and I think you’ve met at least one of them already.”

Damien had always loved being outdoors. The sky, the trees, the grass. It was always where he wanted to be. And for some reason, despite his fear of heights, he loved hiking. And today, the weather was perfect.

He usually stuck to the same path, but every now and then, on days like today, he’d wonder off, take a new path to see new things. It just so happened that today, was one of those days.

He ventured along an older looking path alone. One people had rarely used before. He tried to keep himself calm as he walked, keeping his steps as gentle as possible. That is, until a snake slithered across his path, causing the young man to let out a yelp and take a few steps back to avoid the creature.

In turn, that cause him to loose his fooding, rocks and dirt gave way under his feet, and he fell, tumbling down the side of the cliff, with a bolder following after him. In the fall, Damine was knocked out for a few moments, when he woke, the dust has settled. But, he was trapped, the bolder that had tumbled with him, had come to rest on top of his left leg.

“O.. oh no.” He felt panic sink in “fuck- no- fuck. No! HELP.”

Incidentally, remote wilderness locations were also good places to go for a change of scenery when you didn’t feel like people screaming at you and making a scene. Attention was lovely, but even Shade needed some quiet time.

But apparently he wouldn’t exactly be getting away from screaming today as while he was walking his rather perceptive hearing picked up on the sound of a little voice calling for help. Humans were always getting themselves in trouble, weren’t they?

It was pretty fortunate for Damien that someone happened to be passing by and was able to hear his calls. The sense of relief was somewhat undermined though by the tremors in the ground as Shade approached along with the rustling and cracking of trees. Then a shadow cast over him as curious eyes surveyed the situation.

“My oh my, what’s happened here? You poor thing.”
