Why did you abandon me in Paris to the Children of Satan?

It’s always been only a matter of time until Armand asks this of him, but it doesn’t make the question easier to hear. Marius knows now he made the wrong decision in leaving Armand to that cult. The least he owes the boy is an honest explanation. “I suppose there was more than one reason.” He falters, but then continues, “You’re sure you wish to discuss this?”

Armand eyes Lestat curiously, tilting his head to the side. “Did you do something different with your hair? ”

Lestat just looks at Armand with a somewhat confused expression. He’s pretty sure he hasn’t done anything different with his hair since he was twenty years old. 

“Um... no.”

Once he’s arrived, he has to ask.

“What happened to Lestat’s house?”

“Of course I remember.” In hindsight, they weren’t Marius’ proudest moments. Bedroom games are one thing, but there were also times he hit the boy in anger. He wishes he'd never done so, but there’s nothing for it now but to move forward.

“You said I’d made up for it. That’s what I was asking about.”
