Harry glanced up at the sound of Hermione's voice, "oh um..." he took the scarf- their fingers brushing against each other and he smiled, "Thanks. I don't know why I can never remember the bloody thing." The fabric was warm; especially since it came with some heating charms. "But you look like you need it more than I do." he said with a frown, "Why don't you keep it?"

Harry had thought this over and over, and honestly he wasn’t sure this was the right move- but valentines day was coming up and honestly he didn’t know if he could take it anymore, she deserved to know.

Maybe he shouldn’t have been so cowardly as to rely on a letter, but he’d never been good at speaking up about how he felt… What if she already had a date? There were a million things that could go wrong with this plan, but he had already apparated to her flat.

What he hadn’t been expecting was for Hermione to be there, or to spot him with the letter in his hand. “Oh er…” Harry exhaled, it was now or never. “I- didn’t expect you to be home I, wrote a letter I was going to leave you.”

Draco had noticed her come into his store. He watched her as she browsed his ingredients and his potions. He had a couple of plants up front he had meant to put away before any customers came in, but he figured she would know enough to stay away from Snargaluff; it looked enough like Devil's Snare that most people avoided it. He watched her carefully, however, and when she edged closer to it, looking at it curiously, he felt a sense of exasperation run over him. 'Don't do it, Granger,' he thought to himself, urging her to walk away.

When she didn't, and reached over to the plant, he acted before he thought about it, slapping her hand.

"Don't touch that, Granger!" He snapped, silver eyes sharp. "Don't you know how dangerous snargaluff is?!"

"I'm not hiding." The words came out a little defensive than Amelia had intended: green eyes wide, eyebrows furrowed, voice taking on a hushed, higher octave as she tried to keep it low inside the library. It wasn't that she was concerned about Madam Pince catching her - instead it was drawing unwanted attention from the other students. After all, how often did a student start Hogwarts during their fifth year? "Its just ... quieter here." Amelia added, her low tone honest. She lowered her head back down to the heavy book on the table, flipping a page over to distract herself. "Plus, fewer students means fewer people staring at me like I’m some kind of sideshow."

THE OLD MAN IS LOSING HIS MIND. Severus is certain of it now. As if, in between spying for both him && the Dark Lord, he had the time to take on an apprentice. As if, even if he were to consider taking on an apprentice, there weren’t people much better suited to such a position than Hermione Granger. Not only does he not especially want to work with her,, but he is certain that feeling is entirely mutual. Merlin - hopefully he doesn’t have to break the news to her himself -- Hopefully Dumbledore has given her the same speech he had given him this morning. Somehow he doubts that. 

His knock is hard but fast -- he bangs the door twice and then waits, arms folded in front of his chest as he glances behind himself.

Harry nods, feeling a little more reassured at the squeeze to his arm. “Good,” he says, squeezing her shoulder gently before he lets her go. Hermione stands up, and he glances around the forest while she stretches. It all feels so quiet here, so distant. Like the war isn’t real, or maybe that they aren’t. 

“It’s weird,” he says without meaning to, nodding at their surroundings. “Feels sometimes like we’re the only people left in the world out here.” He looks up at the sky. “Pretty sure it’s gonna’ snow again tonight.”

"Please 'Mione, a date isn't worth leaving you." Eris was already kicking off her shoes, and ushering Hermione inside her flatt, "It was a last minute thing anyways. I'm not broken up about it." Her date was with a coworker anyways, it would be understandable if she missed it. Aurors lives weren't entirely their own and holidays were no exception. "I have alcohol, and we can order out. Harry helped me set up, what's it called? A television? And he bought me things called DVD'S."

      “I’ll make us some tea.”​ Harry watched Hermione take a seat that the kitchen table in Grimmauld place and gave a sigh. “Feels strange to be here again. I’ll stay here for a bit until I found a place to stay. I was thinking an apartment close to Diagon alley.”

      Everything still felt so surreal. He hadn’t truly realised that it was over. They were free. Free to live normal lives. Ironically living a normal life sounded just like their next big challenge to overcome. Harry handed Hermione her cup of tea and settled next to her with a cup of his own. “Nevermind being back here. Feels strange to just...be.”

     “I take it you and Ron will move in somewhere together?” This was another weird thing he’d have to get used to. He was so happy for them, but it also meant that there was a new dynamic between the three of them. Ron tried to act as if they were still three friends, and they were, and always will be, but Harry wasn’t blind. He knew he had to give them both the space they deserved. 

     Or maybe Hermione wanted to focus on her education first. “Either that or you’re returning to Hogwarts for your final year.” Harry knew Hermione well and he had a feeling that his second guess was correct.
