The Cardigans - First Band on the Moon ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @thecardigansofficial #thecardigans #sweden #swedishpop #pop ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love this album so much I went through the trouble of bringing it all the way home from @requestmusic in Maui! I first heard the Cardigans on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack and I assume that’s true for a lot of you as well, at least if you’re in the US. This album is full of really well written pop music that was, if we’re being honest, a little ahead of its time considering most “indie” pop for the last 15 years sounds a whole lot like what the Cardigans were doing in 1996. There’s no denying that “Lovefool” was an absolutely monumental pop song that dominated the airwaves and MTV for the better part of a year and frankly, it still holds up in it’s perfect pop-hook kind of way. My favorite track on this album, however, isn’t Lovefool, it’s “Been It”. If you haven’t heard that song, you really should. The guitars and chord progression get stuck in my head for days and I love how it’s one of those songs that really doesn’t sound derivative of just about anything else. Now, I know that many Cardigans fans will say that this album was GOOD but Gran Turismo was INCREDIBLE, and for the most part, I agree. That being said, I get more emotional warm and fuzzies from this one because of the awkward teenage years I was dealing with when I bought it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do you think?
